Well, the money from the Mondial is burning a hole in my pocket. So I'm taking a very serious look at a '78 308 GTS Red/Black that a guy I know is sitting with. It's got about 35K miles and has had a substantial amount of work done in the last few years, including a very expertly done respray, and the body and trim are in excellent shape inside and out. However, the records do not show a major service in the last 5 years, and it doesn't look like the 30K was ever done. Also, brakes may need some attention, but I'm an "expert" at doing brake jobs so that one doesn't bother me.

I'm planning on taking the car for a PPI. Other than anticipating doing a 30K to the car, and the water pump while I'm in there, and giving the brakes some attention, are there any other areas I should be concerned about or be looking hard at? The car has a new Tubi exhaust and the Webers were rebuilt 3 years ago and serviced/adjusted last year. As part of the PPI, the mechanic will be doing a compression and leak down test.

I read the thread about installing the Electromotive ignition, and that sounds like a great upgrade. Will probably consider doing that next winter, if I get the car.

The 14 inch wheels & tires have to go if you're going to drive it hard at all. I just replaced mine & it was about $2200. Windscreen isn't delaminating is it? That was pricey too.

    Bill,

The windshield is in good condition. And the car has 16" wheels on it.

    Thanks,
    Steve
