I am looking at a F360 in Toronto which has 38,000K on it. I checked the carproof and it shows one accident claim for $67,000 in 2005 (before this current owner). The paint looks great, probably repainted, after the accident.

They are asking 90K for it, but that was before it came to light that there was a fairly major accident on the car. There is no structural damage on the vehicle, it has a green light when it was bought from auction. (it wouldn't be hard to rack up a bill of 67k replacing factory body panels and parts, really).

I need to know your opinions on what I should offer now that it is known it had a fairly major accident in its past, or would you just walk away and pay a premium for one with no accident ?

I was thinking 10K off would be fair, 80K, but this is a guess. Knowing it will be hard to sell if/when I decide to sell it.

Let me know your thoughts, you guys know much more about these cars than I do.

    Thanks,

    M

    hmmmm
I think I would still walk. It will be a hassle to sell down the road if you ever decide to.

PS.......why dont you look state side for a 360, the exchange rate is almost at par. Theres a ton of 360's for sale in the US in the 85-105k range.

Are there any modifications that need to be made in order for it to be deemed certified in Canada?

Go to the CANADA country section farther down the front page. There is a large 'sticky' thread on importing American market Ferrari models into Canada.
I would look for an accident free 360. Also the thread on getting a Ferrari serviced in the GTA has some useful comments; especially about 'indicated' mileage or as we say kilometers on a vehicle...buyer beware. Go slow and double check everything and believe nothing!

Front end has to easier to fix than the rear end where all the busy stuff is. If it was fixed in the front and fixed well, strike up a deal. All the negative comments above confirm that this car will be a hard sell to anyone. I would try to make a great deal.

First of all 90% of your target resale market will have nothing to do with that car when you want out of it because of the $67K hit.

The CARPROOF accident claim DOES NOT include the other guys car. I was a dealer and know how inside and out CARPROOF works, done over 200 of them and sold a Porsche to the president of the company.

    1-Run, don't walk............

knowing it had a major accident and will be hell to try to resell, what is the most I should pay for this car?

It's either this or a mint F355 with no accident for around 70K.

If you were to consider this car I think the first thing you have to do is get a copy of the repair invoice and have a professional check the work done.

If satisfied that the damage as repaired hasn't impaired the overall structural integrity and safety of the car I would have thought you'd be offering no more than 75% of the equivalent value of an absolutely clean example.

You will need to sell the car one day. Believe me one day you will want a newer ferrari, or something else. No one wants a beat up car when you sell it to a ferrari lover. I wouldnt want one. Anyhow 360s are going for 90k for a 2002 spider if you look at the right places, with no damage and immaculate shape and low mileage.
