Hello all. One of your other members got me hooked on Ferrari last year (mdsassaman). He's been mentoring me on the aspects of purchasing my first Ferrari. I've settled on the 348 and while I'd like a targa, I think I'm leaning to a Spider. While I'm ok turning a wrench (water pumps, brakes, brake lines, electrical, etc) the prospect of popping an engine out and doing work on it, frankly, scares the crap out of me. So in looking around for a 348 I've located a few and one in particular owned by an aircraft mechanic who has apparently got the Mod's in a twist here at FerrariChat. He's also done most of the maintenance on the car himself since he bought it. He's probably got a bit more cred as he works on engines that fly me from coast to coast but it still gives me some pause. I'm doing my due diligence as this purchase, while it's a toy, it still a rather large investment. I spent hours last night pouring through your community here and reading post after post. Google is also an amazing research tool. However, that's not the same as going to the folks that drive these amazing machines. What are the opinions of the experienced Ferrari owners here on DIY and the 348 specifically? Also -- feel free to PM me if you have specific details so as not to slander anyone. Thanks for your time - I'm looking forward to joining the ranks as a Ferrari owner in the very near future. Also to be a positive member of your community. David M.
