I am looking at buying a 1999 355F1 Spider, Red/Tan. The one I found is $73,000 with 11,000 miles. Looks good with no problems. 2 owner car. Upgraded wheels and tires (new) The agent selling it says that it had the major service done 2 years ago by the first owner, but they do not have any records of the service. In fact, they have no service records at all. Located in Houston. On ebay and Auto Trader
What are your thoughts about no service records. I can have a mechanic check it out but not sure how to tell if it truly did have the major service. Also is this a good price?
    Thanks

I looked at a 355 Serie Fiorano last summer that was listed at 79k. Full service history, books, the lot. So, yeah, the price they're asking is really high IMHO.

Further, I viewed a 355 GTS with similar circumstances...no actual service documentation to speak of but the dealer/broker was insisting the car was perfectly up to date, blah blah. On good faith, I had the car PPI'ed and it was a pile of ****. My advice, run - don't walk - from this car.

There are many more better examples out there - several up for sale by members of this board.

If there are no records-ASSUME the major has NOT been done and negotiate with that.. Unless they can prove otherwise.....

Not having service records does not even make sense on such a low mileage car... If the car was serviced at a Ferrari dealer, they have to have the records. I work for the Ferrari dealer in Greensboro, NC... Foreign Cars Italia... Call me if you get a minute and maybe I can help answer a few questions and we can get you a nice F355. My personal car is a 1997 F355 GTB and it just turned 40k... I love it!!!

Make sure you look at the 348/355 sales thread!!! There are members here that have put big $$$ into making the car right and are selling for much less.

No service records = No deal...period.

Look in the Official 355 Sales Thread, there 2 excellent 355's being considered by their owners to sell.
