I have a Stebro exhaust on my 308 GT4 (as I purchased it). I'm looking for someone who has a stock Series 1 muffler that is functional that I could borrow... or a muffler that was in poor enough shape that is was not usable (but that I could have and would repair). I would be interested in a Euro or US spec muffler.

I intend to do some tests comparing the two if I can find a stock muffler (or three if I can also find a Euro spec muffler).

    Thanks,
    Chris

You mean the thermo-reactor? I've got a couple of them, both with the fake tips and the real pipes turned down and exiting under the fakes. One looks like it was made at the muffler factory with the fake tips, the other looks like the fake tips were a retro-fit.

I'd be curious to find out what's inside these things, thought I'd cut a window and look inside, but never got around to it.

Anyway, they're big and heavy and I'm on the other side of the country if I recall your address correctly, so I probably am no help to you in your quest.

I am clear across the country as well, but if you pay the freight you can have mine. That thing must weigh 80 lbs. I've also considered cutting it open.

Thermoreactors did not have the toxic palladium the later cat converters had, but i do recall that they do have "something" inside them that may be hazardous. ( Thermal oxidizer?)

Thank you very much for the long-distance assistance. I think I'll wait a bit to see if something closer is available.

In regards to the fake tips, I expect the "retrofit" one you have was done at a dealer. The "technical revisions" document provided here:

    http://dino308gt4.com/useful-files/

indicates on page 24 that some of the exhaust pipes came only turned down and shows how to modify them to have the fake rear-exit pipes.
