Hi guys, Looking for a friend: Anyone know or have the passenger-side in-bumper front light unit for a US spec 328? Thanks!!! Hans
I'm sure we all want to help Hans, but as this lightunit is on or near the top of the "most wanted" partlist of the 328. The're simply are not available. But Hans, do you need a whole unit or the frontglass only. Fellow Fchatter Mark Lintott is making these. do search
Sit down before looking. http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=ferrari+328+fog+light&_sacat=0&_dmpt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&_odkw=328+fog+light&_osacat=0&bkBtn=&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313
Verrel has already had a look at this - the problem is the main fog light lense is bonded into the light unit so its hard to get it apart to copy it. Superformance in the UK have some plastic copies & someone else here had some really nice glass ones made (also now on E-bay I think). I have just got round to buyng some protective film for mine which hopefully will be on them within the week.
I have the glass pieces - got a few pieces still left from the second lot I made. They are pretty good I think IMHO. As Iain said the problem has been getting the old glass out of the housing. If it is broken its easy as you can just break it out and clean out the channel that holds it in place in the light housing behind. If you want to keep the glass for any reason its not so simple. It is time consuming to scrape out the sealant they used to fix the original part in the housing. Someone posted on here a solution to this using one of the solvents available. I'll check back and report. If that works then it would be a lot simpler to do. Anyone want some glass lenses though let me know - pm or post. I have both sides and will sell separately. "porphy Removal of the old foglight lens Mondial T I used methylethylketone (MEK) and it worked well with no damage to the plastic casing and it removed the adhesive nicely. Check it out on your plastic casing before you tackle the removal. Since there are seemingly many foglights out there better be safe...." I haven't tried this myself but it sounds like a good way to go. Anyone else out there had any luck doing it this way? Thanks porphy for the info by the way. Cheers Mark
By now I found out that the case is completely destroyed.. So we need a whole unit. My apologies for having this info just very recently. As for the unit on Ebay; the dutch Ferrari dealer knows this adress, and has used it in the past. But it has appeared that they couldn't supply. The insurance company will be asked if they want to pay that amount of money (EUR 2250) for that actual unit. I guess it is 10x the original price Welcome to the Ferrari pleasure dome..
A year or so ago, Cavallo Motorsports (FChat user name JAbramson) had some nice repros on display at the Bella Italia show in San Diego. Honestly, for the $6000 price on those eBay items, I might consider using the repros when driving the car and just stick the real ones in the closet.
I have a set of original good used US lights from my 86 328. I know they are going for big dollars, but what is a reasonable price for both parties. I am not looking at getting every last dollar, rather help out a fellow fchatter and get a reasonable price for my lights and turn that into cash for my project. Thanks in advance for any help. Eric
