I am looking to replace the existing seats in my '99 355 spyder, which need recovering. I saw the seats pictured below in Ferrari Fan's car and they would go great in my car, as I have many of the same carbon pieces. I also have the same center console, so the width should be correct. Is there any reason why they would not work in my car if I use my existing seat rails? Does anyone know of a set for sale? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good luck! 355 carbon seats are tough to come by...a better option might be to fit 360 carbon seats as I think those are easier to find.
+1----I have seen only one decent set for sale over the last few years and they sold for something like $3500
I would try our sponsor lascderiarossa and see if he can get them for you they show them on his site.
The 360 Sport Seat, and 360CS seats are not a direct bolt in replacement for the 355. They are a force fit that requires modification...I believe "angelis" put these in his 348 and can answer the "how to's". The 348/355 Sport Seat is the most unusaul CF seat I have ever seen. It is absolutely a work of art!!!!!!!!!!!! It is unusaul also in the fact that it was not mfg'ed by a seat company as a unit. The CF parts were done by Ferraris' F1 CF subcontractor(TIR?). They are dry carbon lay-up, vacuum bagged, and autoclaved. They are sooooo light it is unbelievable....guess weight(ones I have) of the seat without hdwe and covering is total 6lbs. WOW!!! The hdwe and padding were contracted out to a seat mfg, and the coverings themselves were done in house by Ferrari. This was the most expensive option available, and you could not get this with a Spyder. Roll bars covered in leather, interior CF parts,CH bumpers, and every other conceivable option, even CH grilles have been reproduced by after market companies. But, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE has ever reproduced the exact replica of the 348/355 CF Sport Seat. Cars for sale with this option should bring atleast $6-8, maybe even $10K(if not now, history will prove this) more than a similar car W/O. I very very very rarely see 360 and CS CF seats for sale...and they go from a steal price of $4,500(angelis) to as much as $7-7,5K. I have been looking for a set of these 348/355 cf seats for 7-8yrs and have not seen any. IMO, the 348/355 seats are alot more highly collectable than the 360 ones made by Sparco, and should demand a price atleast equal or again IMO more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
360 carbon seats are an easy fit into the 355, the only problem being the mounting bolt pitch is different. I machined some aluminium adaptors to account for this difference. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beautiful job on the machined adapters.......looks awesome as do the seats. You didn't have to do anything with the parking brake trim? Would you mind telling how much the seats were? Thanks for the pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only problem is clearance between the rake adjuster on the drivers seat and the handbrake. I have removed the carbon trim on the adjuster and will re-machine so it sits about 12mm (1/2") closer to the seat, unfortunately I don't have a picture.
You guys over there in England are stealing those seats....lol Awesome deals.....to bad the US owners don't have the access. I have bid on them from England, but by the time you pay shipping and customs those $4,000 seats are $4,750.00+
I believe you will have to add new seat belt anchor points. The spiders belts are anchored on the base of the seatbacks and over the backrests.
Yes...for Spyder install there are mods required for the seatbelt anchoring points, and if you really want to be correct you need a safety cage/rollbar. This now requires a major rethinking of the soft top proper......this is something I have drawn out and will address in the build. A removable hard top that flows to the rear ala F40????? Hmmm.......very interesting, might solve my McClaren roof intake snorkle to achieve over 100% VE, but we'll save all of that for later...lol
I love my car, but the seats suck. I bet those carbon fiber seats would get me an inch closer to the ground and another inch back. It seems that everything I want for my car costs $4000. 355 wheels, carbon fiber seats, lower trim painted red. Bee Jay
LMAO.....how true. The only thing to be thankful for is the parts aren't at the $8,000 level......lol
lol..... I think the 348/355 spider seat may be very similar.... here are mine...... now who is going to post some 348 spider seats?? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe just mine seem "contoured"....... since I have been hauling some 'full figured' women around lately..... !!
