Hi all, Don't often post here, but I am always reading all posts. Sold my scaglietti some months ago and would like to buy a 355, as I want something more nimble and sportsy. My thoughts are: - Ideally berlinetta, but open to GTS as well. Spider fine but only if already changed to manual or if rooftop working very good (understand prices differ for each version) - flexible to colour. OK with red, but also with grigios, etc. Just not too much into giallos - Interior would be great if tan or beige (or whatever you call the even whiter colour). not so much with reds. blacks also ok, but preferred after tans - no stickies interior - Mechanically need a decent amount of service records and good track record of engine outs/cambelts changed, plus ideally belts changed at the most 2 1/2 years ago - want also models with headers changed and if pre-97 valve guides also done - Capristo a plus, but no need for it budget up to $67.5k cash (no financings) Let me know if you have something that would fit this in my price range Many thanks all and great new year
Yep. Luke is right. No good cars on market now meeting that spec including spiders. Sorry to be the barer of bad news.
Have a salvage one for sale. Only if interested, then read below 1997 spider red tan, 19" hre tires r 80%, brakes at 80%, headers changed, new clutch, nouvelari muffler, records with prior services even for the minor stuff, last major done in 2009 at I think 21k miles, currently has less than 26. Roof is manual. I'm the one who fixed others roofs with issues but at this point just not worth my time. Carpets cleaned, leather co fictions with zymol, subwoofer, red oem cover, tool box, inflator, one inch paint chip on the rear bumper, removed non oem shields, has challenge grill. Savage is due to driving over a metal object, ripping. 5 inch gash on driver foot floor board where your heels go, ruptured the gas tank and damaged the 24x24 support bracket in front of the gas tank. Tank replaced the rest removed straightened repelled back to its place. Enough said Price is 45 k firm or 60k obo Yours truly, Steve 818-621-4593
I am usually not too concerned about mileage. Not looking at above 100k miles, but more looking for a well cared for car than a 5k mile car. if it is 40/50/60k miles should be fine. I would pay for a compression leakdown test though and would look for that to provide comfort
Thank you Steve. At the moment, I am looking for clean titles. if I cant find anything I will reach out
I would have thought the more modern technology and V12 in the 612 would have made it just as nimble and sporty as a 20-ish year old car (???). Faster, quicker, more torque...
A '97 doesn't guarantee steel valve guides. Thanks to many on this forum it's been proven that Ferrari started the steel guides consistently with Assembly number #27689
the 612 is just a big, large car. handles well and is nice for driving with SO/small kids but not the best if you want to speed it up for your fun, rev it around corners. V8s much better on that IMHO
As I remember from some previous posts, that Tech Order was taken as a "suggestion" by the factory. I seriously doubt that anyone checked the factory trash bins, but if they had, I doubt they would have found many 'old style' guides. ;>)
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but where do you find out what assembly number your car is? My 355 GTS has an assembly date of Nov. 1997. Thanks!
Open engine bonnet, look at left side shock tower - you will see a plate with the assembly number. Image Unavailable, Please Login
