If you had told me before looking at the pictures that its side marker lights were inset, I would have thought, "cool, they should look good and unobtrusive" but boy, would I have been wrong.

Big money for no information about the car. What makes you say that it needs a lot of work?

as you know Iw as looking hard at the 365 in Cali with the conversion rag top;now I see this one at Motcar Gallery in Florida.

They do not give any info at all, the interior looks like it might be tired; not alot of pics, Doc

    Good day All,

This is Chassis 18371 ... and it was for sale for the last 3 years at John Scotti's in Montreal. I had someone look at this car in 2011 and I passed, as it needs a lot for work (old/checked paint, tired/dry interior, old/dry suspension bushings, leaky rear shocks, delaminated rear glass, plus the previous owner had some mods/changes done to the interior). Scotti had the car buried in one of their warehouses and so it could not even be started for more than 5-10 seconds... and it bellowed a fair amount of smoke. The odd part is how could one even evaluate and let alone test drive the car given that one could not take it out of Scotti's warehouse? ... and this was when they knew that someone was coming in to check out the car...

As for background...This car was purchased in 2010 for $22K by Scotti and then they immediately put it out for sale for $37K with nothing done to it. They offered it to me for $32K and again earlier this year for $34K, but I passed. Too much of a project and risk for my blood.

Looking at the Motorcar gallery pics, it looks like nothing has been done except for some cleaning. Secondly, the horn button is still missing... I cannot imagine how cheap both Scotti and Motorcar are that they could not spring a few bucks for a horn button. To me that speaks volumes...

Anyway, if there is any interest I will see if I still have the pics of 18371 and I will post them.

    Cheers,

    Sam

The thought of a $49K 365 "project car" is insane!

Compared to the prices you guys have to pay my recent 365 purchase seems REALLY reasonable.

Hope to get the registration docs back next few days and have the car back from the paint shop next week.

I'll take some shots and post them ASAP.

I seriously doubt that anyone has ever paid $49K for a 365 GT4 2+2 although I will say that my 1983 400i's price after federalization in 1984 was probably around $72K and the previous owner told me that he had been offered $110K for it during the Ferrari boom of 1990 and he turned it down. Very bad move on his part as I paid a small fraction of that ($28K) for the car in 1998.

Thanks for the info., but I knew about this car when in was with Scotti. It has been modified, good or bad, hard to say.

But the side marker lights, and mods didn't work for me.

    Ciao and best!

    Sam,

Thank you for the info. I knew of the car when it was with Scotti. But I didn't really like the mods and the side marker lights are horrible!!!

Also, I'm not a fan of a 365 in Rosso.

    Many thanks!
