My buddy is in the market for a 911 TT, 01 or newer. Anyway, I'm up on the Ferrari market but not the Porsche market (he's not an F-chatter). Can anyone suggest anywhere other than ebay as a good resource to shop for a TT?

    Thanks.

Uh, not really. I am a member, and it's an entertaining board but, for technical discussions it is far short.

Pick up the latest copy of Panorama, the Porsche Club magazine. Your local Porsche dealer or independent mechanic should have one on hand.

yes, they are plentiful and contain water in the engine! that's not a real Porsche..it's a Jap car in German clothing....values have dropped almost to 993 TT prices (which finally had a uptick in the last CPI guide).
AND with those stupid "fried egg" headlites, looks like a Boxter from the front..
Get a 993 TT- classic Porsche styling, don't overheat, A/c that works, and
    NO WATER!

    IMO.....course I'm a little biased................

993 myopia sure does reign supreme

If you want a great modern car, look at the 996.....if you want to step back into the 70s everytime you get in the car, yep turn up the KC & the Sunshine Band tunes and drive off in a 993...LOL

    Water cooling = greater performance

    BS...check the 0-60 times of each...993=3.7 996=3.9
calling a 993TT a 70's car doesn't even deserve a response....obviously you've never owned one. nice profile and list of cars owned and previously owned. You must be very proud

Frank - that is one FINE looking machine!!!

It is certainly a personal thing, but I can't conceive of why some people prefer the looks of the 996. Guess that's why some like blondes who appear to have used too much heroin, while I prefer a gal with dark hair & a little meat on the bones :)

I've never seen a std 993TT put up a 3.7 0-60, if you are talking about an "S", then I can counter with an X-50 or GT2. When I speak about the 993s 70s connection, of course I'm talking about the OLD interior, as well as the archaic cooling and the VW-like frog face.

No, never owned one but drove several while searching. Great car, but the 996 is better in nearly every way plus they are the better buy.

I'm a machinery Engineer by trade and it is quite well known that if you need high performance at the jobsite, a water cooled unit is required. For the TT comparison, its not as big a deal at stock HP levels, but any tuner will tell you a water cooled engine has more upwards potential. Plain fact of physics, air is not as good a heat transfer medium as a fluid.

Of course with your superior intelligence, I'm sure this isn't anything you didn't know before.

The 993 crowd is just too hilarious, real Porsche. The 356, 911, and 964 crowd doesn't make themselves look rediculous like this.......yes, I'm very proud of my technical skills.

didn't want to waste my time with this, but
    http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/0-60times.html
or google search as there are several other sites with same info...
My A/C is ice cold and what in the world equates this front end to a VW?
As far as interior goes,I'll take this one any day...by the way, nice spelling.

I would highly recommend going to Rennlist. That is where I found my 930, and that is going to be where I will begin my search for a 993TT.

First check the classified section, and then go onto the 996TT forum and post that you are looking for a car.

The people over there are first class, true enthusiats. Many times after you post that you are looking for a car, people will respond and point you in the direction of cars that are for sale by fellow enthusiasts...the majority of these cars are not even advertised for sale, and are often well cared for examples...

    Good luck

I too would choose a 993 over a 996...for the same reason I prefer Ferraris with 12 cylinders rather than those with 8 cylinders...TRADITION! Just like Ferraris are known for their 12s, Porsche is known for its air-cooled engines. Any differences in performance is academic as few people will ever drive them more than 7/10s anyway...

Though I'm not much of a porsche fan, I think the 993 turbo is one of the best looking turbos made by porsches ever. I too like the 964, but prefer the 993.
Don't like the 996, too many people drive (in Hong Kong at least)...makes it look like any other mercedes or something.
