I have a good friend who is looking for a Dino 246GT. Either an 'honest reasonable' car or one that is ripe for restoration. Any leads would be much appreciated.

    Have you tried Nick Cartwright?

He's got an attractive '71 model with only 31000 miles. £80k

Mike at Rardley probably has one or there's that one on EBay in Bristol (I think)

Thanks for those thoughts already, I know Nick cartwright (he restored my car, sadly gone now, back with a former owner!)...what do people think £50,000 buys today?

The Ebay car isn't worth £ 75000 as far as I can see so you could start a dialogue there otherwise the only Dino it seems like you'll now get for under £ 50000 is a gt4 ! It might be worth keeping an eye on or talking to some of the second division auction houses

They are thin on the ground these days, and the cheaper cars can absorb a lot of money making them more expensive in the long run, but my friend has a restoration business so should be able to do things cost effectively..cheers

i've driven the one at Nick Cartwright and tried to shape a deal with him to buy it.

I'm no expert, but my view was:
    Beautiful gearbox and clutch - best I've driven;
Engine smooth - hint of white smoke but probably condensation in the exhaust
Steering wasn't as precise as other Dino's I've driven. I'd get that sorted pre-buying.
Body work is pretty good as it's not done many miles in the past decade and Nick's done a job replacing a few minor bits. It's been there for a while now, so maybe the price is a bit toppy?

KHPC have one at £70k but it's got a rust bubble on the driver's side - I've not diven it. They also have one in the workshop I'm told, but I haven't seen it.

Verdi finally sold the Argento one that's been to auction at least twice, I was told it needed some work.

Mike Wheeler has had three recently - a GTS needing work at a price I couldn't stomach and two GTs that he rapidly sold.

There's a Yellow one at Speedmaster - no seen it, but from memory it needs work.

Then there are the market topping £100k+ aspirational ones, your old one would be one of them these days.

PM me if you want more.

    Hi John
Many, many thanks for the run down, very helpful.
Ideally I think he would still like to find the a car for restoration, but they don't appear to be on offer at the moment. I blame Omgjon!
