Hey guys, i was test driving a black 355 last week and will be test driving a red 348 in 2 days, im looking to purchase one soon. I could get one of these fcars in 2 weeks, or should i wait 2 more months and i will be able to get my hands on a yellow 2002 360 modena. what do you guys think?
a black (nero) 355 is by far the most amazing car I've owned, and definitely more fun than any I've ever driven (viper, 360's, vettes, etc.). Many cars try to replicate the sound of the 355, but it will never happen. As far as driving feel, I have WWWWAAAAAYYYYYYY more fun in the 355 than I ever did in my 911, it just hugs so well on the turns, and the aerodynamics at high speed are insane. 355 is the way to go, sorry 348 B-hood. I guess I'm not a real man.lol
3 very different cars. What's your driving style and budget? The 360 is pretty solid for its level of complexity, but body work is either impossible or hideously expensive, so you don't want a 360 with exterior body damage, and frame damage just about turns them into parts cars (some exceptions apply, of course). The 355 has a lower cost of entry than the 360, but on average may be a bit more in maintenance costs. The 348 is the lightest of the 3 (Ferrari claims otherwise, but we've weighed them!) and the simplist, but if you aren't accustomed to driving without power steering then it's not for you. So how you drive matters (e.g. power steering) and budget matters. If you can stroke a check for any level of maintenance, then you're going to have a blast in 360's and 355's, especially on the track. On the other hand, if you are turning your own wrenches, then the 348 has fewer things to go wrong (e.g. no electronic shocks, no airbags, no F1 tranny, no power convertible top, no power seats, and very importantly: no car alarm), is the lightest, and is the easiest to tune for hot rodding.
328 or 348. Power steering is for middle-aged women and metrosexuals. If you already have a cheese grater (Williams & Sonoma has a nice one), go for the 328. -- A public service announcement from the 328 Syndicate
Good comments by ND and what u would expect here in the 348/355 section. The 360 guys will, of course, tell you there is nothing better that their cars. Not mentioned: 348's are no longer depreciating; 355's are pretty close to bottom and 360's still have more to go down. Also, check production numbers if you are concerned about being too common - there are far fewer 348's than 355's and a whole lot more 360's than anything Ferrari ever made.
Is it just me or this brotherhood thing oversold...I have yet to see a single positive word from a 355 owner regarding the 348. Its the genetic basis of your car. Similar in more ways than can be counted. I chose (of my own free will) a 348 over a 355 for many specific reasons. Yours is not better, just differant. FYI...Snowed in and grouchy
We should get together and drive (in the spring of course). I live in Columbia - which isn't all that far from Essex. Plus I'd love to see an SS.
I agree. this winter crap sucks...cuz all I can do is dream of nice Ferrari weather. Lil Bastard has Hockey team members from Columbia
All three cars are quite different in character from each other and they cost significantly different as well. Do your research on the cars here - there is lots of info on the board.
I have a new outing planned for the Brotherhood. Let's get together and go over to St.'s house and beat him with our 348 cat bypass pipes! And then we can flog him with our motorized mice shoulder harnesses!
............. ..... not a single word??? ok here is at least one, from a 355 owner & resident 'hairdresser'.... ................the 348 is a great f-car for the $, it looks good, sounds good and has one of the best groups of owner camraderie I have ever seen for any car model.... !!!! Long Live the Brotherhood!!!!
Where is the NERO F355? Is it a GTS? IS it 6 speed mannny? If you are SERIOUSLY not going to buy it, please give me the contact info. TIA
All of us on here most likely love ALL Ferraris, and if we had endless cash supplies, we would have two of every model and every color combo. The 355 guys would love to add a 348 to their garage, and vice-versa (wellllll maybe not all the 348 guys, haha). No one Ferrari could possibly be called "better" than another, because like everything in life each has it's pros and cons in regards to specific applications. Mseals, if I do get the award, Goth might be angry with you for nominating me... here's my black beauty, sorry it's a repost, but I think this angle shows off one of the world's most beautiful badonkadonks. Black 355's are cool!!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have a hard time seriously believing you are in the market for cars with pricing that can vary from $40k (348) to $120k (2002 360). If you can seriously comfortably swing a 360, then don't bother driving a 348. Then you only have to decide between a wedge styled 355 with 375 hp and a rounded-styled 360 with 400 hp. You might also consider a 550.
...............here is to a fellow 355 "nero alleanza" member and now.....bonafide "hairdresser"..... !!! +1.......... its question of the wedge 355 or the jelly bean 360 styling............ I stole this video from the 360/430 section....... listen as arnold tells the FNA president "I had a 360 and it was a disaster".......................... I say go 355..... http://www.socalspeedzone.com/pages/arnold.html
For looks, go for the F355... 360s cannot beat the styling and lines. For $$$ towwards maintenance in the long run, you might want to consider a 360 since it's a lot cheaper to maintain. I was on the same boat 3 mos ago, but I pulled the trigger on a F355.
Wow, Armhold Musclehugger said his 360 was a disaster. Now that's funny. I dropped the notion of getting a 360.
