As some of you know, I have been looking for a 355 for some time now. I have made it my goal to have one in my garage within the next two months. After a few deals I have been working on have fallen through for various reasons, I am asking for your help in finding that "unknown" car for sale.
I have researched Ebay, Dupont, Cars.com, etc, etc. What I am looking for is something that might not be on the "public" sale market. Perhaps you have a friend who has mentioned selling their 355 but doesn't want the hassel of tire kickers. Maybe thats you...
Anyway, I am looking for a red / tan car or a white / Black car. Mileage is not an issue for me assuming services are consistant. I would also prefer a 1995 car.
Any leads would be appreciated. PM me details...
    Luke

    George,
I am in a very similar position to Luke (but with a little longer lead time). I don't want to take advantage of your willingness to help, but is there any chance you could help me also? I can PM you some more detail tomorrow if you like.

    Many thanks.

His username here is kev (space) 355. I'll pm him to respond to this thread.

I might be putting mine up for sale soon due to job transfer. I should know more by next week. But it is a MY99 fly yellow / blk (rare 6spd), less than 19k miles Most factory options: shields, Chal. grill, red calipers, K40, CD changer, etc, and 0 miles on 30k major (belt & clutch). I will have my car deliver back to me tomorrow from service. No valve guide, stress crack, headers issues. Only a few stone chips here and there. I am the second owner, the car was originally sold at LFSC, IL. I did have new tires, and resprayed rear bumper and added 3M thin strip along the arc. last year. I am in Milwaukee, WI. 90 miles north of Chicago. PM me if interested.

What about checking out the options at Manheim Auto Auction? I know they usually have a decent selection. Tomorrow they have 9 Ferrari's up for sale. Granted you have to have a registered dealer buy for you.
    Just an idea.

Did you check FerrariAds? There was an FChatter in San Diego who posted a beautiful red/tan 1995 with 19K miles on 3/31/07. Valves and manifold done and I think Service work.

    I believe he wanted $76K.

The valve "guides" too right ;)? If it is a spider, that sounds pretty good if all of that is documented or proven through inspections. Though I always try to negotiate a little at least ;).

In hindsight, I would have bought a 1995 'instead' of the newer models because of the obd l and the dual MAF's. It is easier to modify. :)

    Hey guys,

My car is for sale on ferrariads - and is the one being referred to here. While it is true you can buy a car for less money - it is important to know what you are getting for your money.

For instance, a red/tan 95 spider that has had valve guides replaced and exhaust manifolds replaced, a full 30K major done in the last month that included new tires and clutch is more valuable than one that hasn't had that done, huh?

One that has had an interior rebuilt that includes redoing the seats, carpets, dash and all of the sticky parts redone and carbon fiber added (total about $8K in work) would certainly add value to a car where that hadn't been done.

I wanted a 95 when I was shopping because I wanted the little added power that it has and with the hyper flo cats added it sounds fantastic.

In the end, isn't one that has had the issues that surround 355's dealt with properly and recently worth more? I know it is more costly to buy one that has questions and bring it to a state where it doesn't.

    Tooly

Be friends with any dealer that is willing to buy you a car at the auction. Back when I was in the car biz I used to buy cars for people for a flat fee. I made quick money and the people got a hell of a deal.
Lucky for me I still know people that are in the business so I can still get toys at wholesale prices :)

    Tooly,

I too have been in the market for a 355. While your points are valid, they are also to be expected (except for the interior) which was above and beyond. But keeping the car maintained is expected. That price is unrealistic.

What do you guys think is a fair price for a 1995 355B with 29K miles.

Major needs to be done in two years. No documentation to support valves were done but did pass a compression/leak down test two years ago. No accidents and from what I can tell no stories car.

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts.

    Thanks

    Tooley's F355 is exactly what I'm looking for - even price - except I want a B! Great car!

On the '95 with 29k miles, most Bs with that much mileage run between $60 and $75, depending on condition, provenance and greed (of course, you will see prices up to $90 or so in some places). 29k is a Lota miles (especially from a sales perspective).

As with any F355, get a really good PPI from someone trustable. It passed a compression test two years ago - but what were the numbers (and what are they now?)? I looked at one that FofOrlando said passed - with 7 cylinders between 175 and 180, and one cylinder (#2) at 142. They then said that they couldn't do a leakdown with the engine in the car (but before, they said that it was part of the PPI), so I caught my flight home instead of driving...

Thanks to everyone for all of the advise. With the help of everyone here, I have been able to narrow my search down to two cars. I plan on taking flights to see them both in the next few weeks. Before I pull the trigger, I thought I would revitalise this thread and see if any have come for sale since I last posted. Thanks again to all who have had their feelers out for me and I look forward to posting pictures when I do make my decision!

If you get 80K for that car--then my 98 is for sale for 110K

Try finding a 95 gts!! Then try finding a black interior, then less than 15,000 miles on the clock , its mint and services in order then tell me it not worth it !! I looked for 3 years for this car i spent 2,500 bucks on airfair , Dealer Inspections, Hotel stays not to mention time off from work!! I paid 10,000 more than the market value because i wasnt lookin for a great deal I was looking for a nice car. I never said it was a smokin deal I put it out there as an option for somebody like me that may be looking for a near perfect car!!
If hes looking for a car in the 60k price range Its not going to be a GTS and Ist going to need services soon Not Cheap on a 355. Im not the fixer upper type of buyer.

BTW Your 98 is just a 1. coupe 2. Yellow 3. F1 These are not the most desireable options so you probably should ask less than 110k FYI

Just because YOU paid well over market value doesn't mean you are going to sell it for that. Yes there were fewer GTS car's produced, but that does not mean they are worth more in the overall market. The GTS is actually less desirable to most potential buyers. Not that there is anything wrong with them, I personally love the GTS, but most people prefer a Spider or GTB. WHY?? Don't know why, but I have helped many guys on this board find cars and not one has ever asked for me to help locate a GTS.

Bottom line --I am sure you have a wonderful car. But in the grand scheme of things it is not worth $80K in the used Ferrari market value world...Sorry, but that is the real world deal!!

Lastly, In reference to your last statement. Every buyer has different tastes, want different options, etc. Not sure how you know what is most desirable and not, but I can sell my 98 Yellow F1 Coupe for market value 5 times faster than you can sell your 95 GTS ---why?? I would guess out of the last 20 guys who have asked me to help locate a car for them---5 or 6 matched the options I have and not one ever asked about a GTS...Not here to start a pissing match, but I keep very good track of the market because of the registry website. I am constantly looking at cars, options, pricing, etc....

Oh sh*t! I've got two out of the three undesirable options here....but at least mine is red. Now that should get me 110K if i ever sell, right? LOL

I know....coupe vs spider is like straight vs gay so a GTS would be like somewhere in the middle??? Just kidding.
I agree here. GTS is desirable only to a certain few. I think most are/were looking for hardtops or spiders. For me I knew I wanted a coupe from the getgo....and I'm straight (hahhahahah :D)
