Now that I hvae got rid of ( I HOPE....please...) my Quattroporte ( anyone else having a tough time selling one...the market has really tanked for these in the last couple of months...great car in many ways, just way too fussy and unreliable for me...), it is time to find a 550 to go with my 360 Spider ( if I could just get someone to buy my gorgeous 360 Coupe ...)

Anyone know of a 550 that would fit what I am looking for? Preference ( very HIGH pref ) silver...f1...mileage not as important as condition and maintenance...looking to get in at under $100K if I can find the right one at that level ? With 575's going in the low to mid 120's now, it would seem that there should eb some decent 550's in this range ?

Any other input ? Hopefully I will be able to get the garage where I am trying to in the near future - 550 / 360 Spider / M3 conv. and Magnum SRT8....( all silver...have the last 2, and the Spider pending on selling the Coupe )

    Thanks.

For buying advice check out the other recent threads.

In Europe, your price would not get you a good 550 (you would need to spend about $15k more) but in the US of A that may be different. As FERRARI-TECH mentioned, there is no semi-automatic in the 550, they are all stick shift.

I hope you find one to your liking, they are wonderful cars. Attached are some pics from a fellow F-Chatter's car (can't remember who, I'm sorry) in the colour you prefer. This one has very nice Daytona seats.

A very nice example (Euro) with bordeaux interior is up for sale at Mike Sheehan's (ferraris-online dot com). I contacted him about this car myself, but he couldn't trace the owner quickly enough - I had already found my car by then. As the car is in Germany it's not really worth your trouble to import it but the pics are very nice!

Exactly, I have yet to see a 575 for less than 150,000 unless it has a laundry list and high miles. Granted you can find 550's at or just under a $100,000.

550 - Good choice too, the stick shift is a plus IMHO.

Tough garage! - en joy life...

Guys .....check out asking vs selling on a lot of cars ( not just ferraris ) right now....as a buyer, reality check is needed.... I KNOW what I sold my QP for...I KNOW what the 5875 in FT L went for...what we want, and what we would like don't matter...what market will pay is what counts...I KNOW what the 575 went for... I was 24 hours too late too get this at $125,500...

Having bought and sold a lot of cars (including 3 Ferraris), I can say, you get what you pay for :)

A 550 can be had for around $100K. However, it probably is a 97 (first model year) or a Euro (not a bad thing, just need to check paper work), and almost certainly is due for a major service.

Yes, there are bargains out there, just make sure you get a good PPI.

    Best,
    dsd

The selling price of one car does not dictate an entire market.

You can probably find a car around your price, but your choices will be limited. Also, be prepared to compromise your parameters.

    Texas of course!
I saw a 99 for under 90k with reasonable mileage. I was starting to wonder what was wrong, of it Roger E isn't that unrealistic after all. To his credit, I've actually seen lots of 550s under 100K. Came here looking for the same info he is asking, and wondering how the market is for them right now. BTW Roger, like the garage collection your trying to build!!

Tex- thanks. Just took a hit on the collection as the LA lawyer who put a deposit on my QP looks like he is going to flake. Did not mean to get anyone's back up on this - just if you are seriously in the market for 550/575 right now, it is very mixed up. LOTS of cars sitting for months, and from what I can see, the ones that are selling are the ones where the prices become " real "....eg nice silver one with 8500 miles, all services, records etc just sold in WA for =/- $104K....yet people are still out there asking $120K...which in my mind is 575 money ( or very close )...anyhow, still in the market ( although talking about a Pozzi blue with tan....just not sure about giving up the all silver thing....but what a pretty car )...let me know if there's one out there with my name on it.

I am currently helping a friend find one right now. I will be in the market in about two years. Isn't this car the one that has a history of being jumped??? There is also a picture of the left front quarter panel where they don't line up. In a market where originality and history are extremely important, this car is no where near original and the history is highly questionable.

Agreed...that's why I looked ( figuratively....from 2000 miles ) and decided to stay away. It was for sale a few months ago for quite a lot more...there is a ( good ? ) reason it is still for sale now...he couldn't be specific about where he had it serviced / maintained ( " several places locally " )...questionable interior ( definitely NOT original )...overall vibes not commensurate with the kind of car I'm looking to buy

    This one is on consignment:

Not pure silver (grigio alloy), but very stunning with a hint of blue to it. The listed price is 'very negotiable' per what I was told.

If you're referring to the one I posted, it's in San Diego at Bobileff's. Call Gary or Carlo at 858.622.1600 and tell them Jon with the black 328 referred you. I didn't get to price discussions, because I ultimately decided to keep my 328, but I was told "there was room" below the asking price.

Grigio alloy is magnificent. The interior is an ivory color, not white. Very dramatic in person.

Thanks Jon. Much appreciated. I sent him an email last night, but have not heard back. Will call if I don't get a response in the next day or two. Thanks again.

you can also look directly at the dealership...they 'sometimes' WILL give a good deal to move inventory...they are interested in getting cars on the road, and driven, and sometimes can swing a bit better.

try these all slightly north of 100k, BUT you get what you pay for and this IS a factory dealership.

also, try Jim in La Jolla, he'll find you one to fit your needs....good to deal with at the sports car company.
