I have a black canvas boot cover on my '83 Cabriolet but would sure like a beige cloth or leather replacement. The ones I have seen are for 1984 and above. Any ideas on where to find one?

Are they very different? You can probably send your actual boot to get one made from it as a pattern. Try topsonline.com Vic is easy to work with.

First, your 83 qv is the first year of the Mondial cabrios, 83-85 QV, 86-88 3.2, 89-93 t.
All the cabrios are the same as far as having the placements for the boot cover.

My car came with a canvas black cover, but I ordered from ebay

This lovely tan leather boot, so much better than OEM IMO, its nicely padded and gives a fresh look to an up & coming classic. It comes with 10 do it yourself snap on buttons that takes about 30 minutes to make the holes and screw them on to the boot. Since you have to measure and make the holes, it won't be a problem for your car. I would not hesitate to go for these, I love mine. Fair warning, the color of the tan leather is slightly off the interior leather of the car, but still looks great! All the best.

Thanks for the suggestion. Since I have not done this before, how did you make the holes in the leather and how are the snaps installed?

The kit comes with the leather boot and 10 snap heads(male) and 10 snap receiving (female) screws.

I laid out the leather boot, marked a point where the button/snaps would go using a pen.
I used an xacto knife to puncture a line hole, like this " + " but big enough, trim off with scissors making a small circle hole. Make sure its not bigger than the snap. Then inserted the male snap thru the leather and screwed into the receiving female snap end, it just screws in and holds firmly in the leather. You can also use your old canvas boot cover as a template if your not sure. But I have to say, it was very easy for me, I just eye balled it, started from the back, made 1 hole at a time and screwed the snaps in, made sure they fit as I went. ended up with 10 holes and it fits and holds very well. see pic.
