From what I hear the 1M is a terrific car, but it is by no means an M1!

 

I drove one and was very disappointed. Great looking car though.

 

Of course it drove badly. The M1 was first being farmed out to and built by Lambo and then BMW brought it back in-house...........................

always loved the M1.....not entirely clear why, but was reinforced by the one i finally saw in the flesh.....not the most curvacious car, not the most powerful....but some how!?

was looking for a segment from topgear with jamesmay driving a black M1, where he talks about how it has an almost modern feel to driving it....

Man, I'm jealous. I've seen them race before and they sound AMAZING. Almost like an F1 car or close to the Aston Martin Racing LMP1 cars.

Way back in the 90s I was in Joe Rosen's BBLM at Pocono and we were racing a race prepped M1. THAT was a RIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased M1 #1326 last week. One of only two black cars made by BMW.

Cool & you are in LA, I have a new friend now! I would be ok with you letting me take it for a little drive sometime .

 

I had 2 of them - the first in 1979 and the 2nd in 1981. While the first was not so good as the engine was not propperly done the 2nd car was fantastic! The BMW M1 was the best handling car in that period! And we drove circles arount any Ferrari GT car (BB/i etc.) who handled like trucks in corners on the Nuerburgring (OK, on the straight the Ferraris were faster!). And yes, I have one for sale (EU-car, less than 10,000 km on the clock, BMW-certified) - but its expensive. Anybody? If so, please contact me offline.
