Why? I have access to a 6.0 engine but its going to be big $! The tranny isn't going to bolt up either. There's a guy on lpower putting an SV motor in an '81 CT, but he's doing major mods to the oil sump and the block to make it work.

I am sure there are Diablos/Murcis out there with the front of the car destroyed that you could salvage a motor from.

I have TWO options for you good sir, pick your fancy, but they both involve $100k.

    1. I have a Diablo GT engine, zero miles. You can have it for $100,000.
    2. I can get you a 1992 Diablo, pristine & pampered, for $100,000.

Youll want to mull over that for a while, a tough decision, I know.

Im almost afraid to suggest the most cost-efficient pair of suggestions, namely to fix the Contach engine and re-install its original unit, or simply sell the Countach and buy a Diablo proper, as I rather doubt that these options will be viewed as logical. However consider that they will absolve you of the possibility of being referred to by your freinds as a 'glutton for punishment'.

I have also heard a rumor that a gentleman in North Carolina who is quite handy with Lamborghinis is putting an 800bhp boat engine in the Countach (this is all true and confirmed at the time of this posting). He will have to bend the chassis a little and cut the body a bit, but it should all hold together at high speeds (he is planning to bolt it together VERY tight). I rather think that this sort of custom solution could also provide you with the power increase you are obviously are looking for. A plumbed-in fire system will be a must, but personally I would consider an ejector seat as its better to avoid shrapnel thats about to be dispensed by massive engine failure - always a distinct possibility with these types of experiments.

I hope Ive helped more than hindered. BUT I know you dont really want to replace the Countach engine ;-)

Murciealgo motor won't fit, it sits 4" lower, halfshafts won't bolt up, etc. Already looked into that option.

Oem motor is beyond toast, another " fresh rebuild " by another shop. Maybe I'll post some pictures for fun.

    Joe sackey,

Thanks for the offer, however we're looking for something cheaper,ie: earlier motor, one that has not been rebuilt. We have access to some wicked motors from our friends in AUS who run a GT in enduro racing, but again too much $.

Oh Lord help this poor car.
Lets see, the use of the word "cheap" where the replacement of a Lamborghini Countach QV engine is concerned? = More Touble Ahead.
Hmmmm....I do know of a "cheap" Countach engine, but unfortunately, its beyond toast.

I agree with Joe, save the car, here is an original QV engine: http://www.eurospares.co.uk/partsListing2.asp?G=38&M=&Mo=&A=&B=&S=&SB=3&SO=1&SM=2
also a Diablo engine there but forget this plan, the car will be scrap, also the computersystem ect. nothing will fit!

There is an 8 LTR Lambo race boat motor for sale at OFFSHOREONLY.COM. The asking price is 20k. Is said to produce 1000hp on race fuel. A nice de-tune to 800hp would do nicely.

This is only a small insight into how bad this car, there is household wiring, crimp connectors everywhere in the enginebay. We are going to have to rewire the entire vehicle. And yes thats sand on the oil pickup tube. Its going to be very expensive to repair this motor properly.

Seeing as how toast everything is on this car, might be a good time to swap engines, and why not go with something that is FI and has a lot more power?

Don't worry about naysayers. It's not thier pocketbooks. That motor looks like it had a very hard life. I guess it all comes down to weighing out you options.Hopefully the internals are salvalgeable. I personally have thought that finding a Countach with needs and doing a turbo or supercharger set up would be very fun. But then again, I don't mind playing with a car.

    Darrell.

  19. The sand that ruined the engine probably came from the original casting of the block. That really sucks. I would contact Chad and ask him about the swap. He did have a spare Diablo engine.

I think its still better and cheaper to rebuild the complete engine, you will have a new engine then and the value from the car is more than with a non-original engine so if you spent more money on rebuilding you will get it back later. When this car is with fuelinjection (I think it is) I would take the "eurospares" DD engine but try to keep the original engine also with the car. Also I would change the back from the car into a euro ass without bumper and the normal taillights.. anyway, good luck with this project, have to say it would be interesting if you put in another engine but I think you will have big problems with fitting it in there and on the end a lot of money gone and still no running car

how did this car get to such bad shape?

is this the black C/T that was on L Power "for sale" a few months ago and the thread was closed?

will a 12 from one of the other models fit ( Espada?)

seems wrong to modify the car, i would have loved a project like this, depending on the price paid to buy it initially.

no disrespect, but i would not butcher the car just to get it where it will run with *some* sort of drivetrain. fix it right, enjoy it, and watch it gain value. if modded, it will be very, very hard to ever sell.

    :(

Actually on a more serious note. A motor from an Espada is a possibility. I recall that a 2V Countach block and crank looked very similar to the front engine cars. Whether it would fit the gearbox/sump of a QV is unknown but worth a little research.

Certainly would be better than that GM "Iron Duke"
