This may sound too common, but I' m fed up with large banks jacking up fees, providing fewer services and products. Therefore, I've decided to start all over again. I'm on the look for a small bank (South Broward/North Dade) with friendly, personalized service, no "hideen" fees, and on top of all, commited to customer service. Any recommendations?
I've been with Wachovia (First Union) for about 25 years and they are starting to piss me off. I'm a private banking client with them and they have started to put the screws to me. I've been shopping around and have started a small relationship with Regions Bank. So for they seem to be treating me like a customer. I'm not prepared to move everything to them yet, but we've started out in the rite direction.
Of course, service levels depend upon how much you have with the bank. But, I understand your thinking, because the larger banks are increasingly difficult to deal with. Assuming that you're referring to domestic retail banking, and not to offshore, trust management, wealth management or other specific variants....... If you're depositing a lot, then BOA/ML, Northern Trust, and some of the other local places are ok. But, you need to deposit a lot in order to get good service. If, instead you're just looking for a place where you can park smaller amounts and still get good serivce, then I would recommend Great Florida Bank. Although I have relationships with multiple banking institutions, I have found good personalized service without having a lot parked there (because, unfortunately, they currently rank low on stability by FDIC standards). I have a personal rep who takes care of everything. They know me by name in the bank, seem to provide personalized service, and overall have done well meeting my expectations.
I sent you a PM. I work for a credit union and we might be able to help you. We also offer great rates if people are looking to refinance their auto loans and offer business loans as low as 6.5%
For me, locations and hours are most important. I avoid whatever issues might cause a fee, and usually if you know the branch manager they will give you gratis things like cashier's checks. But with things like Paypal, and other electronic account management, I really don't need much in the way of services from a bank.
