I am looking for a good mechanic to do some engine work (not the dealers) in the NY area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why not the dealers, out of curiosity?

    Other alternatives:

    - Classic Coach in New Jersey
    - RPM Racing on Long Island

You might want to investigate AutoSport, too... I hear they are great, but on the $$$$ side.

Nothing personal Bruce, but I had a terrible experience at WWOC, I finally had to take the car elsewhere to get my problem rectified. I would never recommend them.

I am having a poor experience with WWOC's as well. Thet view me as an open checkbook and do not even know what is wrong with the car. Their response is "it will cost whatever it costs"

    Welcome to Ferrari ownership. :)

What problem are you having with the car? Maybe post in the 456 board to see if other owners have the prob -- and a solution! Yeah, it's stoops that you have to diagnose your own car, but rather save some $$$ in the diagnosis phase of the project...

My advice to you is to cut your losses with WWOC, it will never end unless they happen to solve your problem by luck. Find a good independent mechanic, you will save yourself both $$$ and aggravation. I called the guy I brought mine to but he doesn't work on 456's, sorry.

I'll pledge for Autosport Designs!! My TR is going there in 9 days for a mid-season check up, new brakes pads (EBC Greenstuffs), and my annual front spoiler repair :( . Emil is right about them being on the $$$ side though.

Here's another good independent in Short Hills right on the NJT line into NYC. Drop it off and on the train back and forth. Great guy and very convenient.

    Greg,
I really didn't really question him, I just asked if he was interested as he did the right thing by me. When he said he didn't repair 456's I dropped it.

    No 456s. No Mondials. :D

Geoff and I saw a nice Black & Tan Mondial Cab on Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach this afternoon. (He says "hi" by the way)

I signed off on the NY dealerships a long time ago, so I would use an independent.

Any shop mentioned would be good, but for what its worth, both my Fcars have been going to Auto Sport since I was royally screwed by both FOLI and WWOC - Auto Sport does great work, but they are on the pricey side.

There is an old thread on here where everyone discussed all of the various mechanics in the area ... it provided good information on all of them (see if you can find it). I have had WWOC work on my F cars for years - been all good ... Justin in service is great if you want to discuss problem, etc. If you have a second, write me on your 456 problem ... I may be able to provide some insight for you. Best of luck ...

Exactly what is going on with your engine that you need repair. I find it Hard to believe that You cannot get at least a worse case scenario quote.

    Best Regards, Jim
