Can anyone point me to a Porsche dealer with a "nice" salesman that doesn't have a huge ego or a stick up their you know what? I have, so far, spoken with three of the dealers on Long Island and each one of them seemed like they were doing me a favor by talking to me on the phone. Very arrogant and, frankly, has really turned me off to the brand. I even got turned down for a test drive at the local dealer. Said something about scheduling it and coming back another time (with no customers in the showroom!) I've had better luck at the FoLI with a salesman begging for me to take a test drive.

BTW, looking to get a Cayenne SUV and not a 911 (unfortunately). Looks like it's quite a popular car with almost no stock and waiting period.

May be a little far out of Long Island, but Princeton Porsche is quite a nice dealer. My father is in the market for a new car (Possibly Porsche) and him and i went to check out what they had. The salesman was very nice, brought up some great deals, gave us his card, and sends frequent emails. They do have a load of Cayennes as well.

Porsche of Fairfield, Fairfield CT. Ask for Al Ventresca. Been there for many years, knows the brand unbelievably well. Bought several P Cars from him. Great service department. He even likes my 458.

Call Mark at Porshe in Huntington. He is good guy with no ego. Probably going to have to wait for a Cayanne.

Princeton Porsche seems to be pretty straight forward, just loved the close nit feel they have there. Also Ray Catena Porsche is great, got a few names there for you if needed as well. Best of luck

Thanks for the info! I'll follow-up on some leads and see what happens. I may not wait for a Cayenne if there's no stock anywhere.

I've dealt with Ray Catena over the years and always found them helpful. I've never experienced any ego issues, regardless of the model I was looking at or even if was looking at some of their pre-owned inventory.

I bought my GT3 back in '06 from Eric at Roslyn, which must be one of the dealers you didn't like. I contacted him last fall when I was looking for a 360 so he should still be there. I was very happy with the experience with him and the sales manager. They didn't exactly give me the car but nor were they dismissive of my various lowball offers during negotiations (which spanned about 4 weeks!) and the ultimate deal was fair all around, I thought.

I just walk in off the street with no appointment at Roslyn. It was a Saturday and they were busy. Waited around 10 minutes and spoke to Eric. He couldn't be more helpful. Test drove a Cayenne S. He followed up with a call and sent me pictures of the two tone interior. I understand how It can piss u off, It has happened to me at another dealer. Maybe just bad timing . Good luck in your search.

Thanks for all the replies. I spoke with Roslyn, south shore, and Huntington. Huntington was the worse (that was the one that turned me away for a test drive) after pulling up in my 328 parked in the front. Maybe he has something against Ferraris. South shore and Roslyn were polite but arrogant. I'm getting a little afraid of all the stories of engine failures and 996/997 and one story of Cayennes engine problems. Maybe this is God's warning.

Ace, give Lyndsey Goodale a call at Manhattan: not only is she very knowledgable and helpful, she is the Event Director for the Ferrari Owners Club - NorthEast Region. Perfect fit for a Tifosi looking for a Porsche, lol

It was Sept 2000 and I walked in to Paul Miller as a 30 yr old w my buddy to look at Porsches. The sales guy could not have been nicer! Told us to check everything out and sit in the cars.

When we sat down to talk with him we said we were surprised that he was so cool about talking to us and letting us poke around... he said 'you never know who walks in here... I assume anyone who talkes the time to walk in is a potential buyer'.

I walked out of there with my order written up for a $100k 2001 C4 Aero with GT3 style rims, wheel spacers and a Tech Art exhaust!!! They had the car delived to me in Hoboken via flatbed because it was snowing on the day I took delivery.

I loved that car! Sold it to a buddy who still wons it a few years back.

Unfortunately I don't think that sales guy is there any more... his name was Paul but the last name escapes me...

Wait... I just read one of the posts above... it was Paul Gavel!! Great guy!!!

Storms was terrible to me. Given i was looking at audi's at the time if that matters they wouldnt even give me the time of day....twice. Went the first time and pretty much got blown off, figured it was just a bad day. Same thing on the second go around. And i literally mean i was the ONLY person in there at the time

I bought a 2 year old Corvette. (I know this is a tread about Porsches). The sales guy was so excited for me to actually buy the car that he would show up at my house and help me wash it. And he was selling a lot of Corvettes at the time.
