I'm looking for a landscaper who has done work in Castle Pines Village and has dealt with the DRC (design review committee).

    Jeff,

Are you looking for a landscape contractor, design/ build firm, or a landscape architect?

I'm a landscape architect and could recommend many different contractors or firms that have worked with DRC's in the area. Lots of options out there for you.

You may not need the full blown services of a landscape architect but you never know. My firm completed the design for many of the newer and nicer pieces of Desert Mountain in Scottsdale. You can see our site at www.dtjdesign.com.

New residence? You will enjoy the area.

I'm building a summer home in Castle Pines Village. I'm looking for a landscape contractor. The builder has given me 4 contacts: Classic Gardens, Truegreen Landcare, Design by Sundown, and Advanced Irrigation. It appears that Advanced Irrigation has done 99% of the business in this builder's community.

Because of the strict landscaping rules by the DRC, 12 detailed pages on what kind of plants can be used and how many plants/tress per every linear foot, the landscaper is quoting me $35K just to put in the MINNIUM requirements by the DRC.

So I am looking for a second opinion. And if I find another landscape contractor who wants the job, I want to be comfortable that this landscaper has done business with the DRC and who warrantees his work and not leave me high and dry after being paid.

I have spoken to the other landscape firms. They tell me they can do the job for less money. Not one of them has done business with the DRC. I also know they want to get a foot hold into the community and that they might tell me anything just to get their first job in Castle Pines Village.

    Jeff,

The only one out of the four that I have worked with is Designs by Sundown. They do excellent work and are very thorough.

They can also be more expensive than the others but you DO get what you pay for with them. They would have no problems with the DRC and have an excellent reputation in the luxury/Custom home market. I have had good results with them on our projects.

I would at least give them a call to discuss your needs. You will most likely not save any big sum of money on the minimum requirements by the DRC. What I would suggest is that you find the landscape contractor that you know will get it done without any suprises at the end.

Sorry that I have not worked with the others. I'm in Vegas for an aviation event and wasn't able to reply sooner.

    Good luck on the house.

    Robb,

Do you know who the engineer was on Desert Mountain? Seems like we worked on those plats. Sorry, nothing for Jeff on the contractors :-(
