    Texas!
Folks, I'm looking for a 87-89 911 or a 933 coupe for a daily driver. I prefer an original car. I'm looking locally here in Houston, but though I'd put this on the wire. I'd be willing to travel for a really cherry car.

    Thx, Dale

A '98 993 C2 would be ideal. btw, the C2S goes for a premium but it's strictly cosmetic -- there's no performance advantage.

Thanks all. Dave, I have already sent Jonathan an email this a.m. I will call later. Tom, I'll keep checking Premier. Sometimes, it seems that finding a plain Jane coupe is the hardest thing. And Jimbo, don't worry. This is just a daily driver. Driving the spec Miata on the street is getting a little old, particularly when I have to drive into town.

how can one be critical of someone who went from a 550 to a miata and proudly informed everyone...that alone speaks volume for your character, dale.

That 95c2 MM told you about appears to be a good value given it already has the PSS9s which are not cheap and fully adjustable, just as long as it checks out on the PPI. With respect to those dealerships and personal reccomendations here, RPM and Premier will be too high $ if you looking for a daily driver. Go to the Rennlist (free) as a option or the PCA site and sign up for a trail membership that will allow you access to classifieds.

    Good Luck

    Dale,
No interest in the 89-94 964 models?
Anywho, I would suggest visiting the 911 message board/classified section on www.pelicanparts.com. The board is chocked full o' enthusiasts that could certainly point you in the right direction.
...and whatever you do, be sure to get a pre-purchase inspection!!!!

    Good luck!

The 993 is a perfect daily driver...just make sure that the car checks out clean and you'll have yourself a "bullet proof" beauty. Now you just have to find it...and frankly that car at $30k was a STEAL!

If you need to discuss anything specific about 993's just let me know. I'll be happy to help...

I've got a 2000 model Boxster S I would consider selling. Im getting hankerings for a boat.

Its got 30K miles on it. Silver with grey full leather and a metropol blue top. 18" Sport Design II wheels, DPS, all the electric options stuff. Stock, excellent shape. Its a quiet with the top up as a 993 when going fast on the highway. $31K. This car is hands down faster around Road Atlanta than a 993. It doesnt have the straight away grunt, but its WAY faster around the twisty bits and it has better brakes. Its a great daily driver.

You may be a bit tall for it though. You a good 2" taller than me and I'm a fairly tight fit.

993's are great cars. I drove a '95 model for 2 years as a daily drive plus did tons of track days with it. Never let me down, was always fast and its a fantastic looking car. I like the 993's looks better than the Boxster with the top up, but with the top down the Boxster really is a great looking car.

I would recommend a '95 model. The '95 was OBD I and thus it does not have the OBD II sensor problems that the later cars have. The OBD II cars are giving lots of bad computer readings relative to valve guide wear and this causes a check engine light to come on and also causes the computer to report an error code that apparently prevents passing most state emissions. The fix is to rebuild the heads. Ouch! Also, the OBD I cars can be easily chipped, the later cars cannot. My '95 993 had a Fabspeed exhaust and chip that was claimed to give 300bhp. I beleive it because my car would pull later model 993s on the straights at Road Atlanta with ease. You can get a '95 model cheaper as well.

When you say "964," I assume that you are talking about the 90-93 cars, right?

Didn't these cars have some systematic problem, like rear oil seals?

Ironically, I prefer the looks of the 87-89 cars. It appears that they trade in the $20k - to $25k range, which is about the same money for the 964 cars. Hmm...

My biggest problem with the Boxster is the damn CD holder console. It hits me right in the calf.

My next biggest problem is that I like a roof over my head. Drop tops don't make sense in Houston.

But, the biggest problem is that you'll want too much money! Just kidding. Pls PM me with the details. Maybe I'll fly to Hot Lanta and drive down to Cavallino!

Yes, those are the cars. We haven't had any issues with the rear seal on ours. Never has leaked a drop, and its around 107k miles now. Great car.
