I'm looking for a bucket type racing seat (e.g. Sparco). I'm working on a new simulator, so the seat doesn't have to fit any particular car.

Looking online all I find is pairs of seats being sold, but I only need one. Furthermore the shipping costs are substantial so I'm looking for a local source.

I'm happy with a used one if it is in decent shape.

Here a picture to illustrate the type/style I'm looking for:

    Andreas,

You might look for a particular brand of race seat as opposed to the many racing "style" seats that are listed. I did a search for "Butler racing seat" on Ebay and got a page of actual race seats.

Not yet. Still have many hurdles to take. If it works out I'll report back on here.

I don't want a seat made of two parts, but just a "bucket" seat like the one on my pic.

Wow--I don't know how many others have seen your other simulators, but I'm pretty excited to see what you come up with!

I bought a Recaro Lotus Sport seat for my Elise but it does not fit. It is now new, but has never been installed in a car. I think new its about $2,000 and I paid $1,250. I would see it for the same. The seat is at Fox Valley Motorcars (Lamborghini Chicago) in Westmont. If you are interested, you can e-mail me at [email protected]

    Thanks.

How much do you want to spend?

Will the seat be a stressed member of a motion system?

    You're spot on Chris. :)

Yes, it will be for a 2DOF system akin to what you guys are selling (e.g. as in in your avatar).

My price range is somewhere 200 to 300. Got any particular recommendations?

Since what I envision will be bolted onto the moving parts of the rig, I dont think it is actually a stressed member. Looking at your avatar, your setup might be different: Looks like you bolted the actuators right onto the back of the seat?

Well, for that price range, you might have to look for a used seat. A seat out of someone's race car might work well. One that's homoligation that has expired perhaps.
