I have 4 sets ( 16 wheels) of single nut TR wheels that need "little" to "extreme" restoration. Need some contacts to see about getting them put back to a visually appealing state. Anybody got some tel#'s for wheel restorations that you can pass on, that you may have used with good results?

I hear there is a place in Atlanta that is great.........But can not find a link that rings a bell.

What are you going to do with 16 wheels? Are they bent or just cosmetically challenged?

Two OEM sets to stash and hold onto.
One set I want to refinish satin black and run on the car.
One set is a five bolt configuration I will sell to help recoupsome of the restaoration costs.

No bends or breaks that I can see.......that will be determined when they get to the refinisher. Some have just chips and a couple have been lightly "curbed".

    Kerry,

I had some work done on a very badly curbed Acura TL wheel. It was reparied/refinished to like new. I was very impressed. The place is in MD and can be reached at 410-796-8400. They are well know in the Balt/Wash/NoVA area.

I can attest to Rim Pro. I have had many a wheel fixed there... anything from just refinishing a scratch to repairing a bent rim. They did great work on them all.

I used Special Cars Only in Oldsmar Florida for the wheels on my 512BB. They did an excellent job. I think they charged around $600.00 for all 4. That included bead blasting and paint. They did the restoration on Peter Sachs testarossa that won best of show at Amelia Island last year. The phone number is (813) 854-4494.

Just an update..........I called all the suggested restorers and even a few I found on my own..........But............

I must say that none were as qualified, informative, and enthusiastic to restore these wheels as the company that curtisc63 referenced.

The company is: Ye Olde Wheel Shoppe, 6363 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075, Tel.# 410.796.8400.

I called and a gentleman by the name of Dan answered the phone (very thick European accent). I told him the condition of the magnesium wheels, from a slight scratch in the paint, to damage done by a previous owner trying to remove the finish with paint stripper. Dan did not even hesitate to assure me that those were repairs that were well within their abilities. I asked at that point if this was a company called Ye Olde Wheel Shoppe (YOWS)? He said yes and I then knew that this is a business that has been in business since at least the 70's. I mentioned this, and said I remembered seeing their ads in the back pages of many an Autoweek. "Yes, he said, We have been in business for 100 years." My last question to him was, "Have you ever had a wheel you could not repair?", His answer without hesatation...No!

Sold,.................... I will be sending 12 of the 16 wheels to their facility next week........He assured me that they would be ready in 3 weeks, because this is the "busy" season. Oh yeah price..............$145+/- per wheel........If they had quoted $50 per wheel higher than others, I think I would still use their services, very positive and enthusiastic salesperson, with a 100 year history in the wheel restoration business......... very refreshing in this day and time to hear confidence from the vendor.

Other vendors asked what size wheel, what car ("Oh, a Ferrari! Let me check pricing again to make sure.), $200+ minimum, can't get all scratches out, email detailed pix, You'll have to get them here then we can quote a price. and on and on. YOWS, doesn't even have a website and doesn't hesitate to say yes, we can fix that.

I will take pix of all the wheels before and after and post the "results"......Thanks curtisc63 for the contact #.

I used them several years ago to restore some 18" SSR rims I had for my E320. They did a great job.

Well as promised here a couple of pix of the wheels I will dropping off at YOWS, near Baltimore, MD on Monday morning on my way to Atlanta to look at and drive a Mondial that I may purchase. The shot of the 4 single nut wheels that appear to have spent their life in Hell are the set I am going to have restored and finished in satin black. The others clothed in shrink rap are going to be restored to OEM silver. The 2 single bolts have a very small and slight scratch about an inch long and 1/16th of an inch wide on each of them on the back side. Both are from a set I bought that have less than a month on them since new. I was told they were immediately removed and put into storage for the last 20 years.....So they will be great original, Concours quality wheels that I probably will sell to someone looking for OEM perfect show wheels. The 5 bolt wheels will also be sold once they are restored. So here are the before pix...........................
