Ok, so after having run my company for nearly a year, I'm finally realizing that I think I've graduated beyond the TurboTax school of DIY taxes and that I need a real CPA to close out the books this year.

They say the best accountants, lawyers, and doctors come through referrals from friends...

So, friends, any leads on a great CPA?

    Same here.
I'm rather happy with my guy.

But since almost everything is electronic today
(and paper can always be scanned)
a NJ CPA might not be an obstacle for you.

An CEO of a company invited an investment banker, a lawyer and a Chinese accountant to do a valuation of his company.

First he asked the investment banker. "Well, based on the annual cashflow and net present value of the excel model, your company is worth $100 million dollars." says the Investment Banker.

Then the lawyer enters the room. "Well, according to your current contigent litigation matters and factoring the realization probability of your legal reserve fund, your company is worth $200 million dollars." says the Lawyer.

Finally the Chinese accountant comes in. He looked around to make sure that the investment banker and the lawyer have left the building, closes the door and turns to the CEO and said: "Well sir? How much would you like your company to worth?"

(If you like the "story" please give me a call, I have more "stories" to tell)

    Noah-

I think we all have some great references. My father has been using a company professionally and personally for the last 20 years. Great firm, and I will be using them personally from now on. Let me know if you need a number/card/etc

Noah, If you're still looking, let me know. My accountant is from Garden City(he travels to my office). He is 2nd generation, (his dad still handles many accounts). I have recommended him to other businesses in the past and all have been very happy.
