I've had my 365 transaxle disassembled WAY too long and have decided to push all other projects aside to actually get this chore done once and for all (!!)

One holdup has been finding a replacement for part 4061306145 (see images) - my LH unit suffered galling on the shaft surface - caused by a period of disuse and/or insufficient lube - which precipitated teardown in the first place. I've been told that a crankshaft specialist could probably save the damaged part, but I'd rather find a good replacement if at all possible, and not worry about workmanship, etc. I have a fresh diff housing from Paul ready for use, but of course it need a full set of stock internal parts before it can be assembled.

I assume this shaft (ZF 4061306145) is not BB (or Ferrari) specific, but haven't found any good leads on ZF websites regarding replacements. Even if it IS an uncommon ZF part, however, three must be used ones around, from the variety of other diff swap options that don't require re-use of original parts. Appreciate any suggestions!

I've read all the transaxle repair threads many times and they have been a huge help. Thanks to all who have contributed, it's a great resource. I'll document whatever I learn in this process which hasn't been addressed previously, to continue rounding out the picture. Regards, Nate Stevens

Its a ZF part and Im sure Porsche used the same internals at some point. Might even find it in an old 79 Scirocco ;)

Hey Nate, I’m currently replacing my perfectly working diff (83 BBi under 1k miles) with one from Modena.

Mexicruiser, thanks for your response & good luck with the project! Be curious to see how things move along in your other posting.

I ended up ordering a Modena unit as well.....seemed like the surest way to get the job done 'quickly', but honestly I haven't made much headway recently (a few bearings needed still before really getting busy). Getting closer now at least. I'll add a new post today to highlight the main issue that showed up inside this transaxle, fwiw. Regards, Nate Stevens
