Does anyone know a carbon fiber fabricator is Southern CA? I need to have some lightweight ramps built for my lifts.

I know one of the best guys in the country. He repairs IRL cars as well as can manufacture anything.

Only problem... he is in Phoenix...

Im assuming you want to wrap something a little more solid with that cf? What did you have in mind?

Sorry for the delay. I need two ramps like the one shown below. 60" x 18" x 5". Need to handle up to 1000 lbs from a tire contact patch. Would prefer less than 10 lbs per ramp. Rubber protectors for the floor are desirable.

I don't think you could be fabricated.

Bill, he isn't in SoCal, but does top notch work, and I'm sure could get it shipped pretty quickly. He does a lot of custom CF work... again, I re-iterate: Top Notch :)

Hi Bill, there are at least two fchat sponsors on here that may help. MA Carbon and Carbonio.

    Hope this helps.

I think they stick to aesthetic stuff that just looks pretty, no structural designs.

I'm located in So Cal, all we do is composites manufacturing and aerospace work. A one-off project like this wouldn't be too difficult, but what's the budget and do you want a nice clear coated carbon finish?
Honestly, unless you're after a particular look, I'd think a pair of aluminum ramps could be fabricated much faster and cheaper. Weight should still be low with an egg crate style under structure.

Hard to compete with the Home Depot solution shown above!

I would have a metal fabricator weld the basic design for you out of desired metal to your weight requirements. Four angled ramp pieces and one flat piece for the top. I think it would need a layer of duraglass with a lot of hardener. Then wrapped in cf.

Hey guys, thank-you for all the great references. We looked into Carbon Fiber, Plastic and Aluminum. BRADAN contacted me with a detailed analysis that indicated the ramps would be the strongest and lightest if constructed in Aluminum. The current wood ramps are about 35 lbs each. BRADAN's analysis indicated that they could make them at about 15 lbs each.

they could be made from hand layed fiberglass with a hard foam reinforcement, you could make a mold from the plywood ramps your using now

Those look fantastic. Excellent design and execution. Having that aluminum wrapped in carbon fiber would not add that much weight...

But it would be useless added weight, and introduce galvanic corrosion. :)
