Hi I'm Looking for cheaper alternative to part 123860. It's an elbow fuel hose. Item #41 in the parts book for a 328. It's listed under the fuel distribution lines. Do I really need to spend $175 or $103 for this bend or can I just use some regular tubing? If so what type, size, kind. Thanks.

Even a NOS hose will get eaten away by today's ethanol gas, so I'd contact Dave Helm who has established a reputation as the hose king. (Mr Hose?)(Der Hosenmann?)

Consider the fact that it is a fuel hose! You don't want to use any old 90 rubber hose. It has to be fuel rated!

Item #41 (123860) is an air line (not a wetted fuel line) -- if you want a more reasonably-priced substitute, you should be able to just match it up (or cut an elbow portion out of a longer formed hose piece) at an autoparts store.

Even if it's not carrying liquid fuel, as long as it's even exposed to fuel fumes it needs to be fuel rated. That being said, lots of cars out there have molded 90 degree emission lines. Just visit a pick-your-part type wrecking yard and have a look around. Even if you don't want to use a used part, just get the year and make it came off of and get a new one from the dealer...

I will be replacing all my upper flex hoses with fuel injection hose. That elbow shouldn't be a problem.

Sure, that would be best, but 1) the level of fuel resistance needed isn't the same, and 2) if it has a failure, the consequence isn't as severe. I wouldn't use a coolant line, but a crankcase ventilation line would last for many years IMO -- and, even if it fails, the only result is the idle going up (rather than immolation ;)).
