ok i am back. i dig the 911 i have, but it aint no carbed Italian car. i would like to find :

    1) a euro spec Jalpa
    2) a 76 or 77 euro Ferrari 308GTB ( no GTS cars please)
    3) a euro Urraco that is not full of rust in strange places.

i miss the sounds of ripping through the gears with the carbs screaming in the cool night air. and the smell of hot metal and warm leather as the car ticks and cools off in the garage after a nice run. :)

any leads or help will be appriciated. i may even throw some $$$ for the info.

why did you sell Garys Jalpa?

It had a slightly modded engine that has more HP than any Euro car.

Get a V12 Countach or BB carbed then you'll be happy for quite some time.

because Garys car was a red over white repaint and i did not know this until the car was paid for and on the way to bieng shipped. i asked about paint work and was told the car had been painted, but he left out the part about the color change. i would have never bought the car had i seen it in person, and i wont make that mistake again for the money i paid.

as for all the "work" that was done, nobody has ever reaylly said why the motor was opened up or gone into. i suspect from all the head rework and shaving that it dropped a valve at some point, or was about to. ( valve guide issues?)

the cheap cars i dont mind some "issues" but i paid too much for that car to begin with and i am glad its gone. i also will not even consider one with the sealed airboxes. winter time is the best time to buy, so i will wait with cash in hand until a decent car comes around. going to sell the 911 when i get around to placing the ads.

carb Italian cars are very unique in many ways. there are better and faster "cars" out there, but i could care less. if i wanted to go truely "fast" i would buy a sport bike. if i wanted a " good car" i would buy a Jap econobox. ( have a Jap truck...).

there is no replacement for a carbed Italian car, and i have never even tasted a carb v12 yet!

That 1977 512 at FoH was bad azz, bro, low miles, fresh engine....GONE! at $72K.....

Many components (rad fans, etc.)...looked as new.

I'll keep an eye out....did you see the LM002?

I see, didn't know the car was repainted a different color either but never really took a good look at it when Gary had it at events either.

I keep telling ya get a 12, the 8s are fun but what they are missing is the power, sound, and mystique of the 12s, my BB is still a very fast car not many cars can touch it which is all part of the fun, certainly none look or sound like it, a newer Z06 or whatever may be faster but they are no where near as cool.

A carb-V12 is for me the "thing" to have! I always loved my Countach LP 400 "Perescopia". Drove like a cart with perfect steering, suspension.

I had a BBi in the early 80ies and this car was a great tourer but like a truck compared to the LP 400!

    Real men-cars are both!

    Ciao!

truth hurts : i cannot yet properly care for a carb v12 car. meaning, i cannot afford both the car, upkeep and insurance. i am just a Gulfstream mechanic after all :) .

a euro Jalpa would be fun, as i dream of a carb LP400 Countach or a nice BB365 / BB512.

i need to come and visit one of you guys for a ride in one of these dream cars :) .

thanks for replying to the thread.

Bigtex, Nice to see you around, and see you "Rossa" . hope all is well with you.

i am waiting for pics of a euro Jalpa . i know that car has been sitting for awhile. i have cash in hand and am ready to fly to see it.

if any Lambo owners on here are in or near Columbus Ohio and want to look at it before i spend cash to fly that would be great. i will also be looking for a shop to look over the car and do a basic PPI. i hate the fact i have to pay 6% sales tax since the owner of the dealership has the title in the dealerships name. :(

any advice or pics of true euro spec 1983 Jalpas would be great. i am going to buy a set of the gold 5 hole wheels if i buy the car, and i know up front that it has no spare and an incomplete tool kit. i think the spare alone is $1000, or so i am told.
