I'm looking to see if anyone would be interested in coming to my home for a tech session with my newly received 308.

I put a new battery in her, some good gas, turned the key.... and all she does is turn over.

I wanted to see if anyone in Colorado would be interested on coming to Wellington to help me diagnose fuel, spark & air and see if we can't get this thing running?

Any takers? Lunch is on me! :)

    Very respectfully,

I haven't checked yet, was hoping someone who knew the car better than me could assist. I'm a pretty good backyard mechanic, but the Ferrari intimidates me a bit honestly.

My Testarossa did the same once, it would turn over and act like its going to start making a slight rumble but never run. I replaced the plugs and she started immediately.

Nothing to be intimidated about, its still just a car :) Just a cool one...

Any easy test for "fuel" on your model is to unplug the safety switch as described in post #5 here:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=234634

and turn the key "on" (no need to use the starter nor have the engine running). In this condition, you should be able to hear the fuel pump run -- if not, you've found the trouble; if the fuel pump does run, next step would be to confirm/deny spark (ignition) during starter motor cranking (for example, by using a timing light on one of the spark plug wires). Good hunting!

Jason, I appreciate the words of confidence. Just read the over the service history and the plugs and fuel filters are over 10 years old! Holy crap!
Do ya think I should start there maybe? ;)
I'll replace plugs and filters tomorrow and also do the tests that Steve mentioned. Thanks you guys for the support. I hope to be more comfortable with this car VERY soon!
Jason, definately want to get together and see your toys as well!

Shane, you have my number if you need anything, If things are ten years old I would be careful about the belts etc when cranking her up, give me a ring if you want tomorrow we can chat about it,

Thank goodness the belts are only 3 years old, but still probably need to be replaced I think just to be safe. I'm taking it to Scuderia Rampante in a couple weeks to service the belts, so they're good. I'll be careful when I crank it over definately.

I'll give you a call if I have any problems.
