I just bought this car, I know who the previous owner was, but it has had a few owners before, and I was curiouse about the history... 95 355 Berlinetta Vin # ZFFPR41A2S0100575 Red/Tan I know in 8/13/2002 it was involved in a flood, according to CARFAX. I am very happy with the car, but I was just interested to see if anyone else knew the car. I bought it from Houston, but according to CARFAX it has spent some time in San Antonio. Thanks,
There is an f chat member in Houston that lost a red 355 in the flood of Summer 2001. This maybe the same car.
It is a salvage title, and it was in a flood. The car is great, I am very happy with it. According to CARFAX the car has had a few different owners. It would have been nice to know any of the owners or find the owner who knew about the flood indcident. I love the car, it is in great shape, no leather shrinking, all the leather is soft and supple, carpet is in nice shape, paint and body looks just like it did when it left the factory, everything working great, asside from the normal 355 issues. But I am curiouse to the extent of the flood, or how high up it was. Thanks, Ryan
Flood of 2001, which I speculate it being involved in before getting totalled out a year or so later: See the picture? That's a freeway. 59 inside loop 610 to be exact. Those are overpasses that are just above water. If you wonder how deep it was, think "floating semi-trucks". Image Unavailable, Please Login
HOLY CRAP!!! that's the Rice Univerity area if I'm not mistaken. That is deep! Randy, do you have any other photos?
Nevermind, I found some interesting sites. http://www.texasfreeway.com/houston/photos/june2001_flood/june2001_flood.shtml http://www.ocay.com/allison/
I drive that freeway nearly every time I'm in Houston. Those bridges are high enough to let semi's pass UNDER them. That water has to be 20-30 feet deep. Does anyone have the pictures of the Galleria with all the water flowing through it?
I was in the Hieghts, thankfully aptly named, and I10 looked the same way. Beer trucks being ravaged by locals in canoes...I saw a Bass boat trying in vain to snap it's trailer tether and be free, don't know why the owner didn't drive it out. If you could not escape by going up the grass side slopes, you were toast. I saw a Jag that the ROOF was six feet under water! That said, I dont know that a totaly submerged car even a new Ferrari could have been economically rebuilt so maybe our guy here just got caught in door handle deep water. i've read if it gets to the dash, you're done....
This car is too clean to have been that wet, but I guess you never know. Oh well if anyone knows anything about this Houston or San Antonio car let me know. Here is some inside pics of the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm not too sure, but I got the car right, I can take 15-20k off the going rate for a 355, and I wont loose money. But I love the car, its my first Ferrari, and it is amazing. I plan on keeping it as long as I can, evan though I have my first kid on the way.
hey ryan, got your pm. not my car. i lost a silverstone verde/tan 355 in TS allison in 2001. i've got some pics that i'll post as soon as i find 'em. what a crazy day that was. i can't remember what my car brought at the salvage auction but i have it written down somewhere. i called them shortly thereafter and they were really nice and looked it up for me. the water on my car was halfway up the doors, about where the radio is. yikes, that was not a pleasant site! curious, do you know what they repaired? i was told the leather alone would be something like $11k??? regardless, enjoy it... 355 is hands down the best car i've owned!!
