    Hi all,

I have been searching around but could not immediately find information on what products are best to keep the leather from the Schedoni luggage set good.

I have my 4 piece set for the 308 and although it has never been used, I want to make sure I apply the right leathercare product to the outside area so that it does not start to crack or deteriorate.

Therefore, any suggestion (or link reference) is welcome, as long as the products/materials suggested are also available in Europe.

As far as inner lining is concerned, I understand from my search that some flaking/cracking is inevitable. Again, any suggestions on how to delay/restore are welcome.

Finally, in one of the small suitcases, one side of the interior lining seems to be detaching. Can this be 'glued' back to the outside or is there some different procedure or special glue required ?

    Best regards,
    Frank

    Hi Jimmie,

have tried to get onto their website but does not work on my laptop (maybe security settings etc...). Also, would probably require to beef up my Italian if I wanted to call/mail them.

Besides, other experiences with factory/OEM recommended products (e.g. for car waxing, cleaning etc...) for different brands (Porsche, Mercedes,...) usually provides product range that THEY consider the best for their cars, although quality wise may not be up to same standard as other 'specialist' types (Maguiars, Swisswax, Zymol...). So at this point, just looking for some member live experiences on this subject.

    Best greetings,
    Frank

It does seem that most folks never use this luggage and just leave the covers on it for ever. I have not used the following product on anything Schedoni, but it does work great on leather pieces that actually get used-

I can tell you that I got a fingerprint, somwehow on one of my suitcase, and I cannot wash it off. I started with water, moved up to various gentle cleaners and stopped there. It only got worse and darker as I tried to wash it off.

    Why don't you use it?

I think leather that's used looks better over time than brand new.

I have great luck with Connolly and Leatherique products for treating my leather goods. For the interior linings, look into hot glue guns or shoe glue or any instant glue that does not leave residue. They hold fabrics pretty well.

That's a good answer, anything you treat the leather with will discolor and attract dirt to the stitching and so forth.......just use it ......we'll all be dust someday......

Leatherique products are awesome. Although, I would tend to use the luggage.

I sent a message with my questions (in English) to Schedoni via their website (not sure why, but website seems to be missing content...). So far no response.

I also noted that they seem to be ok with the Meguiars products so thinking about getting one of these from local dealer.

As far as interior lining coming loose, will investigate with shoe repair shop if they have any good way of fixing this.

I never said I was not planning on using the luggage; however, I haven't been traveling far enough to need luggage yet , doing mostly day trips ;-)

    Thanks for all suggestions !

Not sure I would use Meguiars. It is an okay product, but there are such superior products out there, why settle? It is like using Armor All on your vinyl.....who still does that?

    Hi all,

I got a response from Mr. Simone Schedoni which I have copied below so that you get it straight from him:

"Regarding the 308 set of luggage, you can apply a shoe wax in natural colour (not brown) on the natural tanned leather used on the outside leather.

We suggest to use COLLONIL brand as it contain a little percentage of silicon which prevent humidity damage.

Regarding the inside part, at that time Ferrari wanted us to use a lining which had a percentage of rubber in order to allow the clients to clean the internal part of the suitcases. As any product made with natural rubber, after more than 20 years the rubber starts to “deteriorate” and there’s not too much to be done…

Taking off the lining and apply a new lining (cloth), would be quite expensive…

In case of any question, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Many thanks and Best Regards,

    Mr. Simone Schedoni

So, now will have a look around for this Collonil brand product.
    Cheers,
    Frank

Resurrecting this thread to see if there are any updates on how to care for Schedoni luggage (TR in this case), what products to use, etc. I too emailed Schedoni via their website approximately a week ago but have not received a response. The leather is in good shape but seems a bit thirsty. It has a good smell too -- a combination of earthy clay and cigar smoke. The interior is flaking, as to be expected. I actually plan on using it for road trips and so need to keep it in good shape.

    Hi Chris

Perhaps setting a record for the longest time gap in a reply, if you’re still online and got an answer it would be great if you could share it.

I have a ‘76 set, perfect outside condition (and can vouch for Collonil) but traces of the interior flaking. Still amazing for 45 years old though!

Any updates or info gratefully received.
    Thanks
    John

You might want to post your question in Alberto's thread - https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/schedoni-lesson-of-the-day.564151/. I'd bet he knows the answer.

I think it could vary depending on the particular luggage. Perhaps age, type of leather or other factors come into play. I read Simone's response in post 14. However, at the FCA meeting in Scottsdale in 2019, I asked him about care of my 612 Sessanta luggage and he said not to treat it with anything.

    @JC1720

This is the stuff that Mr. Schedoni himself purportedly recommends. I’ve used it on my Schedoni luggage and it is indeed excellent.
