Hi, my car was already lowered quite allot when I got it, I couldn't get it down my drive. I spent some time and removed the shocks to clean them up and raze the height using the spring collars. It took a few goes but now it sits the same height as the CS. I realise that the shims that space out the arms for the camber will be incorrect but it does seem to drive and handle well. I razed it about 2" I wondered if I was able to find out what the standard shims were, I assume they have numbers on, I could ask around the people stripping 360 and get a set. knowing the sizes would help me know that I am getting the right ones. I realise that there is a good chance that the shims will be different from car to car or will they? at least its likely to be closer than I have already. for all I know the person that lowered the car might not have changed the shims in the first place as they look like they have been on there for some time, is there any info you guys can help me with. Take it to a competent shop and get it aligned and corner balanced. That part isn't a DIY project.

The toe changed front and rear and if you do not align it, it will eat your tires.

Brian- Interesting that for the 550, Which preceded the 360, eccentrics were being used, but the 360 still carried on with shims. Carry-over from the Dino 246 GT days or just a way to save a buck?

Thanks guys, I will get it done properly at Emblem sports cars here in the south of England, the guys are really nice. I would still like to know if there was a standard ish setting in shims for 2 reasons, firstly I would be interested to know how far out it was when it comes back and secondly I will take all the arms off and clean and check all the bushes and joints and carefully re-assemble everything using the standard shims, then when it goes into the shop, everything will come apart for them easy and it will be nice and clean for them. also if I have a few spare they might be able to mix and match the numbers up with my spare and any they have with out needing to wait for an order to come in. Because of the eccentrics you can align one of those in your sleep but it is not as sturdy a set up. The shim is a far superior design.

Brian- I can see that. When my car arrived the front was way out of alignment, probably from having been trucked all over the US while strapped down tightly. Wore out the front two tires very quickly. Not much way to back off camber if shims are used.

    Learn something new every day.

Frazer- When your car was built at the factory, they did an alignment that probably necessitated putting different thickness shims on every corner. From the shim thicknesses, it appears they worked most in the 1.0-3.0 mm range on the front because they have 0.5 mm variations in that range. Choose a 1.5 or 2.0 mm shim and that should get you to a dealer who can do it correctly. Like Brian said and I have experienced, maladjusted alignment will wear out the soft tires we use very quickly. Same logic should work for the rear.

Yer, thanks it all makes sense now. I think I will free it all off and clean up, leave all the shims as they are and go to one of the places that has plenty available like blackboots that Voicey recommends. some times I think I look too deep into things I don't know about fully. I am eager to learn so thanks for your help lads. I will post back out of interest when its done and let you know what changes they made. I have noticed that on tight lock the front dose scrabble about a little when manoeuvring.
