Can anyone tell me where to find fairly comprehensive info on the 351 250 Lussos?
Aside from Barchetta. Whether it be books, websites, forums etc... Any info would be greatly appreciated. Especially interested in the factory colors and numbers of specific colors from factory.
    Thanks!
    Josh

Find a copy of "The Berlinetta Lusso" by Kurt Miska
John W. Barnes, Jr. Publishing, Inc. 1978
    ISBN 0-914822-20-9 cloth
    ISBN 0-914822-14-4 paper

It will be hard to find and expensive.

Its the only Lusso specific book I've ever seen.

    Good luck!

Just so you know, the $30-50 copies you are finding will be the xerox-quality reprinted version that isn't worth the shipping cost. The original, oblong version will be considerably more expensive. If you want the reprint, you can have mine for free. The photos (a primary reason to buy any such book) are completely illegible and obscured by the poor reproduction quality.

Can I ask does this book talk about the factory colors of these cars?

Just checked my copy. No color references.

Maybe Ferrari Market Letter or Marcel Massini can help.

I just realized I own an original "landscape" copy of Kurt's book. In paperback form.

I should pay more attention...Fantastic book btw, but ditto on a lack of color information for GTLs

I have two copies of the Miska book. One is 30.5 cm. X 9 cm; the other 27.5 cm. 21.2 cm. The larger one has a date of 1978 and a silver soft back cover, with an ad for Chinetti Motors on the last page. The smaller on is 27.5 cm X 21.0 cm. and is listed as a reprint by The Value Guide, Reno and has a white soft back cover. Both are 95 pages. Both are complete but the front cover of the larger one is no longer attached.. Any idea of values on these. Thanks tonga's crew

What I also have is the 1976 revised edition from FAF Motorcars inc. Tucker Ga. You may have to really search this one out to find one. This along with the two Miska books are part of my "Ferrari, The Golden Years 1947-1977" collection which was appraised October 30 2015 at $41,775.00. by Tavares Motorsport of Carlisle, Mass. There are also 1142 files on individual important Ferrari sns. which were started in 2006 with the very important input from F Chat and are being updated now. My "brief book reviews" in this same F Chat section has how exceeded 22,000 hits. Anyone interested can post here or contact me at [email protected]. No PMs please. Thanks much to all of you who have contributed to this project. tonga's crew

Am I right in thinking that cars that had their bodies constructed by Pinin Farina (pre Lusso) have their original body colours well documented (owing to Pinin Farina records) and the Lusso which, although penned by Pininfarina had its body constructed by Scaglietti and the records for original colours have not surfaced or are not complete?

Regarding colors, I was going to suggest "Original Ferrari V-12" by Keith Bluemel, but I see the earliest it covers is around 1964 with the 330 GT and 500 Superfast models -- just ever so slightly later than the Lusso.

That said, in the section for the 330 GT colors, it refers to the color table specified for the 275 GTB. This suggests that there was at least some color uniformity across the model line even though the 275 GTB was built by Scaglietti and the 330 GT's were built by Pininfarina. What is different, according to the book, is that Scaglietti used paint manufactured by Glidden & Salchi while Pininfarina used paint manufactured by PPG or Duco. So it sounds like different paint manufacturers mixing to the same color codes. I have no idea how closely the different manufacturers' paint would actually match, but it seems like the intention was for them to match.

The Lusso is only a year or so older than the models covered in Bluemel's book, so it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to think that they might have had the same color options.

Just a thought, but as the Lusso was contemporary to the GTE, would it help to get hold of or examine a copy of the beautiful blue covered Pininfarina/Italver paint swatch book (as pictured in post 565 of Paul Babers's thread "250 GTE...How many remain ?").
I understand from posts above that Lusso were painted separately with paint from Glidden and Salchi but probably to the same codes. Worth a look Josh, I think.

Random question. But, does anyone know the approximate weight of a Lusso gearbox? Just the complete gearbox itself, in pounds?

    Thanks in advance
