Hi all. I've always dreamed of owning a ferrari and I've decided to make that dream come true. I've settled on the 348. I've been researching cars for months and I think the 348 will make a great "first" ferrari. I want a later model (93 on up) but I'm a coupe type of guy and don't really want the spider. I'm in Nor Cal so I need a US car. Anyone know of any 93 Series Speciale's on the market? Or should I just shut up and get a spider? Thanks for the help!

Go for the coupe, it's a better car. In 1994, the US imported 32 "factory challenge TB's". These looked just like normal cars but had pads for roll cage mounting already installed. Those who wanted to race them then bought challenge kits and installed them. About 1/2 of the 32 were actually raced, the others were used only on the street. Many, but not all had plaques giving a series number, much like the speciales. These cars did have upgrades that none of the other cars had. I used to own #18.

I actually started out looking for a 93/94. But what I found at the time (sept 05) were a few not so pristine examples. I ended up with a 92TB 13k miles and in near flawless condition.
If you need some leads, pm me.

Good luck with your search. I love my 348

Expect to take about 6 months for the search to yield a good example of a 348 for you. They are great cars, and you will certainly enjoy them. I bought one of the very first cars (early 89 model), and have been happy with the reliability.

I recently bought a '94 348 tb #4 of 32. It's a wonderful car. Lot's a suspension upgrades. It had actually raced in '96 season, but very good condition with 14,000 miles.

There is a '94 factory challenge ts for sale on cars.com. It's been there a while, but looks to be low miles and never raced.

    Jared,

Where in NorCal are you located? Fill out your profile so we can better help you! I've seen two separate 348SS's for sale in the Bay Area over the past year, but I don't know who's got 'em now. They don't show up at any of our meets. Definitely plan on coming to the Concorso Italiano in August.
