    Hello everyone,

First let me present myself before talking about Ferrari :)

I'm French (no one is perfect), my wife and I moved to N.Y (Long Island) 4 years ago.
Last year I receive my green card and bought a house.
So this year i hope to buy my first Ferrari.

I had a lot of car, especialy when I was in France. Most of them were BMW :
    M3 E36 3.2, Z3M, M5 E39...
I you have time, you can check the car I owned here: http://www.oldspeed.net/all_my_cars.html

3 years ago, and because the car in the US are 30-40% cheaper than in Europe, I decided to buy a 993 Turbo or a 355 (price was in the same range).
After reading an article were the 911 Turbo was better than the 360, I bought a very nice 911 Turbo X50.
    That was my first mistake!

As a alien to this country, I consider myself that I have to "behave" more than "local people". Meaning no exceeding the speed limit, reckless driving...

    Considering that:
    * the speed limit is 65mph and 35/40mph where I'm living
    * that my car had the very expensive carbon brake option, but you can't use them on a track because of a flawed design! ($15K to change the carbon brake)

-> I was bored to death when driving the Porsche at 65 mph...

So 1 year later I sold the Porsche and bought an M3 E46 convertible and Porsche Speester Replica.

Convertible are so fun to drive and I enjoy ten thousand time more driving both cars compare to the Porsche.

So has a car fanatic, I had to have a ferrari once in my life. I'm 41 years old, and it's the correct timing to do it this year!

I was looking for a 355 Spider or a 360, but after reading this forum, I decided to go for a 360 because the maintenance price was the same and usually the newer the car you buy, the better it is (I have a 65 supercharged Beetle so I love "older" cars also).

In fact I was not decided between a real Porsche Speedster and a Ferrari 360 but decide to go with the Ferrari anyway

About the year, I decided to go for a >2001 car to avoid to have to check if a ferrari dealer upgrade the car to later specifications

About transmission, my current M3 has the "SMG" option, i can't say I don't like it, but the friving experience is really less what I usually have with a real shifter, even with the paddle.

About color, I'm looking for the blue "Tour de France" "noblesse oblige".

About the interior, my wife, that usually choose the colors of my car, picked "crema".

About the options, I like Daytona seats.

Because I want a manual transmission and the color BTF, the choice is not so broad.

Finally I find this car: http://catsexotics.com/web/1317/vehicle/335244

I read the excellent article about how to buy a 360 and I'll definitively have a PPI in a ferrari dealer.

As you can see on the picture, the seats are not the daytona one, but I guess i can live with it, and I can still buy them to a ferrari dealer?

The car has 24,000 miles. I'm usually not afraid of mileages. I had a Porsche 944 S2 with 211,000 Kms and a BMW 325Ix with 235,000 Kms.

However the last service was the 15K, so I guess I'm good to have an other one for the 25K? Cost is usually around $5K-$10K

Last think about the price, usually how much you can negociate on this car (listed at $90K, around -$5K?
I may need a trade-in, either for the M3 or the Speedster because space is limited in my garage.

I'll appreciate if you have any comments either on what I'm looking for, or the car I like (http://catsexotics.com/web/1317/vehicle/335244)

Last but not least, I'm leaving 10 minutes away from Universal Autosport (http://www.universalautosports.com/), they seem to have a good reputation on this forum or Ebay.
I'm going there Friday to have a look and show a real 360 to my wife :)

Best of luck and good post. A preference for TDF may actually really work in your favor, as it's not the most popular color here in the US, and I have seen several nice ones in that color that have sold for a good 5-10k less than comparable red cars.

Main thing is - have your finances together (either cash or have financing 'pre approved' and in place) and then be PATIENT. The car you are looking for WILL come along, but it may take a while, even 4-6 months. But when it does, be ready to JUMP on it with a cash offer, to get the best deal possible. You'll be glad you did.

That's what I did with my 360; had the cash ready for a while and was patient until I found exactly the one I wanted, made offer & put deposit on it the 1st day it was listed (and actually was here on ferraiads)!

I just picked up a 2001 Silver with the same options, except F1 trans. and Daytona's for $85,500. Only 4200 miles. This is a 2002, but it has alot more miles. Looks like you will also need another cam belt service. If you can get them to negotiate, I got another $5000 off from what they were previously asking, you could take the car down to Ron Tonkin GT in Portland, Oregon and get the cam belt service. Only $1800 there, vs. $5000 + at Ferrari of Seattle. Would be a nice drive for you and your wife. Then you could have it shipped from there.

    Idiot,

The car he is looking at is located in Everett, Washington. Portland, Oregon is only about 2-3 hours away from there. Go up to Everett, stay a night in Seattle at the Hotel 1000 with your wife, (they have tubs that fill from the ceiling,) your wife will love it, have a steak at the Metropolitan Grill, then take a beautiful road trip to Portland and get the service. Maybe stay another night at hit the Portland City Grill and have sushi. Any other questions?

Good luck with the purchase...I shopped 2-3 360's in the past 8 weeks...there was a 2002 black on tan in FL, asking $85k (spider with 24k mi), i offered $76K cash, they came down to $80k...the car has been sold...a hard top 2000 with 24k in Riverside, CA...$67K asking...it was sold in about 3 weeks....so the cars are selling at those prices...i have pretty much talked myself into a 2005 F430....i really want that one at Ron Tonkin in silverstone, but I know they are not going to come down much from $125k and that is too much for me...Blue huh, yep, those cars are easily priced $5k-$10k under red or black, so you should be able to get a good deal...BTW, I had a M3 convert with SMG too, fun car, but that SMG is a little quirky...i here the SMG II is greatly improved!

Crema? Vraiment? TDF et Cuio ou Tobacco sont 2 autres combinaisons a considerer.

    Good luck!
