    You will probably cast a wider net by posting on rennlist.com.

    Also, if you join the PCA or know someone who is a member, nice 944s show up in the classifieds in Panorama, their monthly magazine.

    I don't have my copy here but will check later and see if there are any listed.

    There are a couple on pelicanparts.com in vehicles for sale.

    Look for a Porsche 951 (that's the factory name for the 944 Turbo).

    There are lots of 944 Turbos around, but be very careful they are as expensive to work on as Ferraris and newer Porsches. With that said, they are brilliant and robust automobiles. Try to find a car with LSD, sport seats, recent service. A clutch job is $2500, the turbo is underneath the intake making turbo swaps a b!tch. I had a 89 Turbo with almost 400hp and it was a breathtaking, fire breathing monster. Now I have a super rare Maraschino Red Metallic 1988 944 Turbo S. One of 51 made in that color. PM me if you want to know more about the 944 Turbo.

    I have had 3- 944s, 1- 951s 2- 911s 1-912 1-914. They are great cars. The things to check are:

    Lower Control Arms
    Cam Belt(interference engine), balance shaft belt can break and take out cam belt
    water pump
    turbo charger
    Head Gasket, can fail if turbo boost goes too high, so make sure no gases in coolant.
    Steering rack
    Clutch
    Oil cooler seals can fail and will mix water with oil
    Clutch torque tube, has 3 support bearings, over $1000.00. Not sure if bearing bushings are still available.
    Sun roof gears usually go bad.

    968 same set up as 944 except has 3.0 engine
    Good luck

    Also 87-89 951 uses later offset wheels.

    87 has auto adjust timing belt tensioner

    86- 87 rated 220hp
    88-89 rated 250hp

    I miss my Porsche cars.

    I love my Ferrari 308 GTS QV

    I'm selling mine, an red/black 87 951.

    New parts less than 12 months ago to include:

    * Water pump
    * Timing Belt
    * Rollers, Tensioners
    * Front Engine Seals
    * All service requirements are current
    * 17" Turbo Twist Wheels
    * New Ball Joints and Shifter
    * New Tires

    Autothority Stg2 chip. It's so clean, it still has all of the original undertrays, engine looks impeccable, etc. Only problem for you is it has 127k on it. However, I have records dating all the way back to the original bill of sale in 1987 in California.

    Of the '88 cars, only the Turbo S outputs 250hp. The standard '88 944 Turbo doesn't have any more power than the '86-'87 cars. All '89 944 Turbos make 250hp.

    87-89 951s also have ABS and airbags.

    The 88 Turbo S and all 89s Turbos also got upgraded suspension and brakes.

    Nothing to add here, other than that I am yet another admirer of these cars. I've owned eight 944s, current daily driver is a 1989 944S2. Good luck in your search! :)

    This a little bit off topic, but I just wanted to comment on how it's good to see 944 enthusiasts here. Even today, I'm impressed with how well balanced these cars can be. Here is my track toy - factory Cup model built for the Rothmans Challenge (pre-cursor to the ongoing Porsche Carrera/Supercups).
