I have a couple customers on the hunt for an immaculate, and I mean pristine, 355 manual gtb/gts. Preferably under 10k miles, all records, books, tools, keys, fca platinum or a coppa bella award a plus.

PM or email me if you have something that fits the bill! Thanks.

Add me to the list but I am only looking for a GTS 98 or 99.

Why would you limit the search to only a 98 or 99?

I think he is under the impression that the later ones have no valve guides issues.

Yeah, it's interesting/funny. Why don't people realize that a F355 with the issues (e.g., headers, valve guides) properly sorted out and documented is a solid car...doesn't matter what year it is. The really savvy buyer knows that if there is a year to be had it is the 1995 vintage. OBD1 and better airbox setup...worth a few extra ponies according to legend.

Now come on guys, Scott does have a valid point. While the later MY F355s MAY have valve guide issues, there is a markedly reduced probability. Starting with Assembly No. 27,689, Ferrari purportedly began using an upgraded version.

The 94/95 MY is great, in that it has OBDI, so it is more "tunable". The air box arrangement is superior, but you have two MAFs that can fail. I also think it's true that overall quality of any given model of car generally improves with advancing model year.

Wow all of these because I want to buy a 98 or 99. If it was just valve guides I wouldn't own a 97 spider that has been perfect since I bought it. I just wanted a newer not older 355 than the one I currently own. I guess you can now laugh at your own assumptions. By the way, I also only want Black or Red and only Black interior. Wanna guess why that is?

Wait that maybe a bad idea to ask. Before you all assume I think the alternator and water pump work better with black interior, I will save you the speculation. It is because I already have a tan interior in the spider.

Thanks Scott, I can't believe so many people jumped to attack MY car of choice. I guess I should check with those guys next time I am thinking of a specific car so they can correct my judgment and tell me what I should buy. How foolish I am to want a specific car without checking with them about my reasons.

Scott, I'm sure they meant no offense. Many people are under the impression that the supply of bronze guides had dried up by the '98 model year but that has proven tonbe incorrect. I think that is what they read in your " '98 or '99 only" criteria.

I hope you find the car you're looking for.

Clearly the comments were about how delusional it is to think that you could 100% avoid bronze valve guides by selecting a MY 98 or 99 - mocking the insanity that is Ferrari. I can only speak for myself but I had no intent of attacking you...I suspect the same is true of others.

Well your first quote above makes it very clear that you feel I am not "the really savvy buyer because if I were I would know the 1995 is the year to be had."

I also never said a word about "my delusion of 100% avoiding bronze valve guides". You guys all just went off on some tangent that this was my sole purpose for wanting a 98 or 99 model year. Anyway no difference I think my point is clear. It is the car I would like to buy for me not anyone else.
