I'm being a bit lazy here by not simply starting my research on my own, but if anyone could point me in the direction of a breakdown of the 308 and 328 models by year, I would appreciate it. I am very much a novice regarding the topic of Ferrari and I would like to conduct some research before I begin looking for a car.

Any help with websites to visit, books to acquire, etc., is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Forza had buyers guides for 308 and 328, lots of valuable information there. Also there is a book called "Original V8 Ferraris", that covers both models in detail.

On the 308 side there were the first fibreglass ones (collectors items), then the carburated ones (best sound), the 2 vents injected and the 4 vents injected. My personal pick was a 4 vents injected (quattrovalvole) for ease of use and power.

On the 328 side there isn't that much variety, main difference is that the later models had ABS.

Obviously they vary in price. If you can find one, go for a late 328 with ABS.

Agreed the Forza Guide is a good one.......there was an article in Autoweek, IIRC that pushed me off the fence, the title was "Prance for less" or something like that.......pointing out ownership of the 308s was ALMOST affordable to the Common Man.......

They forgot to warn about the Divorce and replacement housing costs, that's the only omission I can think of.........

Yes,I agree with Andreas. Those 1976 Fiberglas Cars are a One Year Only production. Then they went to steel. Will most likely be Collectors Items. But,they are only in GTB-Gran Turismo Berlinetta form. Which means hardtop only. No Targa Top offered. They started offering the Targa Top version,GTS-Gran Turismo Spider in 1978.

In 1980 they started Fuel Injection. I own an '81 Car. It is a 2 Valve,Fuel Injected engine. Which has Plenty of Power for my needs. Then,in 1983,they went to a QuatroValvole Engine. But,I believe that it is only a 15 HP increase from the 2V. 1985 was the last Year for the 308. (3.0 Liter.8 Cylinder)

Then, from 1986-1989 they were the 328. A 3.2 Liter.8 Cylinder engine. They were a little more powerful and refined as years went by. The only real physical differences, that I know of,from a 308 and 328 are that the 328 does not have the Fender Louvers,or Bumpers. Also,Side Window Louvers or hidden Door Handle like on a 308.

When the Weather gets nicer, and we can bring out our cars. We have a good range of 308/328's that you can check out.

Hope this helps you in any way. Frank.

Thank you all for your prompt responses. This should get me going. I purchased the recent issue of Forza with the F430 on the cover, and I found the order form for the back issues containing the buyers guide.

Frank, I look forward to the warm weather and the chance to check out the cars.

No problem........I've focused on the 1977s, as they are steel bodied and the LAST to have legal Non catalyst exhaust systems (less heat, underhood)

I'd go for a 1976 glass car, if the price/condition is right.....not a lot of them out there...these are all GTBs......

As noted, the newer, the nicer!

I do a lot of niggling repairs!

Lots of later model owners on here as well. Chicago has a good active group of owners, IMO! Have fun shopping!
