    Hello,
Thought I'd piggy back on this thread. Have been absolutely *loving* my all-stock 1984 308 GTSi QV since I bought her (my first Ferrari) in March. Initially, I saw no need for a Tubi exhaust, because I was very happy with the throaty grumble of my car. Still don't see a "need" for it, per se, but having now been out on several runs with Tubied F Cars (including a 308, Mondial, 360, 512 and 430), I am beginning to love that incredible sound.

SO, I ask for advice from any of you who have put a Tubi on a 308 or 328. Pros, cons (other than it's LOUD in the driver's seat)? I know Tubi is a sponsor here, so please feel free to jump in, Tubi guys, and I hope everyone is candid in their advice -- (PM me if you feel that's more appropriate).

Finally, anyone up here in the NYC/NJ tri-state area have a used Tubi for sale (before I check eBay?)

Thanks in advance, and happy driving.

    J.

    Chris -

What's your price point? I have an X-OST on my 348 and simply love it. PM me, we can probably get you a brand new system for the price of a used Tubi.

I have a tubi on my 328 - it came with the car. However I've also been in a 328 with the stock exhaust (also an '87) and I didn't hear a big difference in the volume. I know the 355 guys rave about them, and it may make a bigger difference on that model.

However, the tubi looks magnificent, whereas the stock exhaust really looks a bit cheap, IMO, for a Ferrari. The 328 rear valance shows off the four tips and, at the right angle, the body of the exhaust system. Not sure a 308 would do that unless it's a Euro car. And of course it does sound great, and doesn't corrode. Whether it's worth $2500 is up to you to decide.

I was also dissapointed with the volume of the sound the tubi made on my 328.
It was way quieter that i expected. Inside it makes almost no difference at any speed with the windows closed.
I have been told its louder sounding to onlookers though and if i roar down a street in a built up area with the window open, i can hear a fair bit more noise than stock.

As for howing and screaming banshee like sounds.. at least from the inside.. forget it.
One day when i find someone i trust to drive it, i will stand outside and listen from there.

The above comments re: Tubi on a 328 has been my experience as well. Definitely would not do again. Not nearly enough difference in sound.

If you're going to spend that kind of dough for sound, I'd look into: Kreissig (sp?) apparently makes a non-valved 328 exhaust, Capristo also may offer something louder, or Stebro is cheaper and offers removable tips that really open up the sound (from what I've heard).

My 88 GTS has a tubi. It was already installed I got it so I didn't have the opportunity to compare the sound. I do know that it sets off all the car alarms in the parking garage at the airport when I drive in as well as any parked car in the neighborhood as I drive by. It also sets off my wife when we are driving with the roof on!!! There is a very pronounced "cabin roar" at just the posted speed limit around town urging me to downshift to bring up the revs or to speed up or down. It seems to transmit the energy to other objects near it. I like it but forget about the radio...

I have to disagree with some of the above posts. I have a tubi and hyperflow cat on my 87 gts and the sound kicks ass. I drove my gts for 6 months before adding the tubi and do not regret it. You have to let the tubi break in. after 100 miles or so the tubi starts to get real loud, deep and throwty and continues to sound better the more you drive the car. everyone at VCR has commented on what a great sound it makes. Sorry guys but i love the sound. The price of a tubi however sucks ass! Lee

I bought my 308 QV with the TUBI already installed. I have the original exhaust packed in bubble wrap which i will keep for posterity. I have driven 308's in the past without the TUBI but that was a few years ago so I can't really make a fair comparison. What i can tell you is that my TUBI is very loud and after awhile, makes my ears ring as if I had been playing my Les Paul through my 4x12 cabinet at loud decibels. So, the TUBI is plenty loud and the car sounds like a screaming banshee even though I'm a wuss and shift at 4000 RPM.

Take a look at the Stebro systems for your car - much less expensive than a Tubi (by direct from the Canadian mfg) and sounds just as good or better!

    Question is about a '91 348.

I've got one aswell (1991, 348 TS, 34.000 km). Was a (tiny) bit dissapointed with the sound of the stock exhaust. Replaced it with a Tubi.

Just sounds pefect to me, makes a real difference on a 348 (especially on the outside of the car or in narrow spaces like tunnels). At first was a bit annoyed by te pulsating sound at about 2200-2400 rpm, even like this now.

    Advice: buy one!
