I was looking into purchasing an Lm-002 to go with my MB G500. Anyone know of any for sale? I would like to get acquainted with them. Anyone know how many are in the states, etc? Any experts out there? This thing is the ultimate SUV! Thanks!

If you love Lamborghinis, you probably will not like the ride of the LM002. Without going into a great deal, be sure you test drive one before you buy it.

What's up with the ride? Couldn't be any worse than my G.

I would have to advise against it. finding parts is an expensive hunt, the Countach engine is not the most reliable & for sure you'll have to redo the entire electronics to get it to work correctly.

I'd get a Cayenne twin turbo, a race Hummer H1 of course, or some other race beastie.

I saw a guy in Ft Lauderdale who had a way cool Range Rover Paris Dakar race truck

I know it will be a pain in the ass but I don't mind such projects. I am also considering a MB Unimog when they import the crew cab. As fo the bad electronics, I like redoing all of the wiring to aircraft specs. William, how is your fuse box repair going on your F40? Do you still have your countach? I'm still interested in the LM-002. The turbo cayenne isn't my thing, but the diesel tourag seems interesting. Let me know if you have any leads. I plan to do a lot of investigating.

    Hello,

Best of luck if you decide on the Lm-002. My friend has one (bought new) and it is definitely a beast. It's so easy to point out the flaws and continuing problems. But you sound like a challenge is welcomed, so that's not a problem. Since you say that you're considering other vehicles: you mentioned a Mog, great fun but a ***** on the road. You also mentioned diesel...why not an H1? I've had two and they, IMHO, are the ultimate on/off-road vehicle. The new Duramax engine is super I hear. (Mine is an '01 before the engine change) I can attest that the H1 is a beast and then some. But it is also manageable and road worthy. I'm going to pick up a Duramax H1 next year. H1's are just awesome! Whatever you choice, good luck and have fun!

    -Jeff

I bet you my Diablo that the LM-002 ride is worse than a Gallardo. :)

Those lambo trucks are really cool. I would love to have one just because its so damn rare to see one on the road. What kind of money are these getting now? I think it would be really fun to own one of these "Rambo Lambo's"!!

I have one and if I can convince Mrs Rifledriver to sell (She really loves driving it) I consider it on the market.

I have been working on them since they came to this country and would take issue with several of the comments.

Electricals are better than Ferrari ever was or is.

Ride? You are kidding right? It ain't a Suburban, it's a real live military/industrial vehicle chassis that will do 4 wheel drifts if you don't mind sliding a 6600lb vehicle.

Motor problems were really limited to a bad chain tensioner design and there is an update/fix for that.

Fit and finish of the bodywork was about what you would expect for an industrial vehicle.

Ours happens to have steel and alloy OZ wheels and a new set of Scorpions.

Oh, if you like attention the only thing I have driven that gets as much attention from your average motorist or guy walking down the street is an F40.

I had one a few years ago. Be SURE the chain tensioner is rectified. If one bolt comes off, the tensioner fails and you're in for an expensive rebuild.
It was better screwed together than my Countach, and I had no major problems in 3 years. Drive one to be sure you are comfortable with all that machinery around you- it is BIG! Happy hunting...

Brian where are you located in No. Cal. I used to live in Pleasanton and had a business in Redwood City. I know all the usual suspects in the Ferrari maintenance business. Where are you located? And yes, my G is a G500 MB. Off road it has no equal (three locking diffs). Stuck in the mud multiple times under warranty. Wouldn't trade it for anything. The lambo however is the coolest thing ever as far as SUV's go. On a boar hunt in Texas, it would be the s**t. Love to learn more about them. I can't imagine ever having to pull up next to one in a parking lot.

    89.

Only the early ones had carbs. You can tell by the much larger center hood bulge as the red one in the pictures has. An FI hood is about half as tall. Correction, the first red one is a carb model and the second is FI. You can plainly see the diff in hood height.

I live right up the road in Alamo. There was a red one in Blackhawk about a year or two ago but they only had it for a few weeks until it got rolled when it went off the shoulder on Camino Tassajara.

Ours is (everybody calls it something different) Metallic Sage Green with the std tan/yellow interior. It gets attention EVERYWHERE. They either want to know what it is or they know and never laid eyes on one. I really like parking it next to H1's. Really pi$$es em off. Most H1 owners have never seen or heard of one and when people see the Bull on the back it kind of upstages the H1.

    I'd say! LOL!

    It's my son's favorite!

I'd wager Mrs. Rifledriver won't turn loose of the keys!

Sorry to hear of the one off the hill......:(
