If the car falls within your price range, then go and see the car in person. For me, the clutch would have to be near new, and service done at least within the year. Abnormal brakes, tires wear and large amount of rock chips can show signs of tracking. You can tell if the previous owner(s) took care of the car from seeing it in person.

A private party sale may provide a better price especially if you can buy an extended warranty from Ferrari to protect your investment later on. There should be plenty of 430 models available since production started in 2005. Look to see if there is a problem with the exhaust header which can crack. Also steel brakes will be less expensive to service than the CCB system that became standard for 2008 models. Mileage tends to play a big role in the value of the Ferrari and higher mileage cars should see a big price reduction. That being said the Euro cars generally have more miles (kilometers?) than USA market cars for sale. Also inn some markets the car color like Rosso Corsa (red) is easier to sell than silver or blue cars. Good luck in the search for a 430!

As a matter of interest if you had a F430 with Carbon brakes can you replace them with steel ones once they have worn themselves out ?

Yes, you can switch to steel rotors.

What a consideration! I remember a neighbour when I was still in Paris area who made 195 000 km with his 575, no problem at all provided that you make regular and serious maintenance.
I got 25 000 km on my second stradale without any problems (before the quasi destruction of the car in my first accident in a ferrari! oups).
I got 46 000 km in two years with my 575, nothing happens!
I got 25 000 km in my F40 with a minor generator problem, fixed in two days.
So if you are afraid about 28 000 km with CCB, don't worry, you will not make enough KM to destroy them if you consider that 28 000 km is huge!
