Probably a strange question, but I am looking to buy a used 997 for my daily driver doing about 60 miles per day. That usually means one or two teleconferences each way. So my question is how well does the bluetooth work on the 997's? How is the microphone in filtering out the road noise, etc?
Second question - has anyone bought the retro Fuchs wheels? If so, reaction? Thanks for the help.

Damn I must be getting old, I did not even know you could get bluetooth on a 997, mine never had it. My car is too loud to really have a business call while driving, but I guess a stock coupe would not be that loud, though I would think you would still hear some background noise.

mine doesn't have it either, but I think it was a factory option (might be standard on the 997.2?).

I hate talking on the phone but on the few occasions where I have in my 911 I've found it to be a decent environment, noise-wise (using the handset and not a bluetooth device).

as for the wheels, they are on my list of potential replacements for the lobster forks I have now. I think they look great. size/offsets should be ideal but I have no idea what they weigh, my only concern would be adding too much weight with a heavy 19" wheel.

I've used Bluetooth in a bunch of 997s, one was problematic, the rest were perfect for business calls.

The Woodtooth in my 356 has been problematic.

I have a 2011 Turbo S and the bluetooth works very well. It comes across very clear on the otherside despite the road noise and exhaust sounds. I think the newer models have been getting better over the years, so it will depend on what year you are looking at. The other option is to install third party microphone or bluetooth speakerphone unit so you can have the latest technology.

Very true, but I want a 997 for my DD yet I will have to be on the phone during almost every commute (just part of the job.) Those telecons pay for my car so I consider it a fair trade.

If the 997 isn't practical for these daily realities then I will have to get more serious about the Audi A5/S5.

Will, tell the truth. Is the Turbo S a true 2.6 sec 0-60 car? :D

if you find a vehicle that is "missing" the bluetooth option, it can be added by this aftermarket company:
    http://navtv.com/product/133/bluetooth-interfaces-category.html
i added the bluetooth to my '08 turbo cayenne and it works flawlessly.
many states have laws prohibiting the use of cell phones held up to your ear and i don't think it is a dumb question at all!

Yes, standard on the 997.2. I've used it a few times, works pretty well as long as you're not driving at high RPM. I've had a couple phone calls where people asked what kind of car I'm driving because they can hear the engine.

The sound is good IMO. Best bet is to go test drive one and try it out for yourself. :)
