I currently own a 05 430 coupe and am looking to at a 96 F355 Spyder with a manual gear box and about 24,000 km or about 15,000 miles on it. It just had the cat's replaced with Fabspeed Cat's, Cam Belt done and clutch was done at 14,000 km or 8700 miles which seams kind of low for a new clutch.

Being the owner of a first generation 430 and tracking that car, there were several things that I've come across that I was never aware of. Costly things like a new F1 pump because the early 430's used a smaller F1 pump for the first 9 month of production before they switched it to a bigger one. Heat shields for the E-Diff that were subsequently put on the 06 model and newer. New TCU because of some obscure issue with the early model TCU. The TCU serial number will tell you which one it is but if your car is 06 and newer then don't worry about it.

Anyways, I would like to know if there are any nuances or updates between a 1996 F355 and one that's 97 and newer. Best way to find out is from owners. Thanks,

Of the things you might be interested in:
There are 3 different brake systems, 95 (or 94-95 in Europe), 96-7 and 98-9. The differences are minor in the ABS-CU and mabe a part number here or there.
If you ever need a new throwout, there is an updated Ferrari part from the F1 series, or the Hill engineered part.

You are going to LOVE the F355, best of luck to you. Lots of good info here, read about valve guides ect. Having spend some time with a 430 coupe at the track, and owing a F355, all I can say is the F355 is where its at. Please post pics when you can...
