I am looking to buy a Testarossa probably next year but I want to start looking now so I am ready by then. I will certainly not buy one off ebay. I hope to get a later model year. Early 90's. I take it the 512M is only the last year? What are some going prices and what are the 512M's going for? I have thought of buying a NSX but I feel it is just not enough as I want something more. I have always wanted a Countach but I tend to think owning one may be a nightmare and I also would most likely only want the 25th anniversary. I live in Milwaukee and soon will be taking a ride to Chicago to spend the day at the 2 Ferrari dealers there. Looking for input on maintenance concerns etc. I have heard the auto seat belts systems are very problem some and I may want to stay away from them. What years had them? I have heard from a few that have said the Testarossa was a very good car.

motorized belts started with model year 87' there are only 75 1995 F512M's in the US. and yes, that was the final year for the flat 12. prices start for low 50's for early TR's to $150+ for the F512M. engine out service required every 5 years is $5K-$7K. LFSC and autosports both have their good points. lake forest makes you feel a little more welcome, but autosports prices seem a bit more market correct.

what ever you buy, get a PPI and a car with a known maintenance history. TR's prices have declined to the point where late 328's are actually priced higher than early TR's. for my money, their is nothing better than a mid-engined, 12 cylinder ferrari. and the testarossa was the latest and greatest.
    IMHO.

Make sure to check and double check the service records. TRs are great cars but only if you get a one that is fully serviced and has been all it's life. Sure you can buy a TR for a great price, but make sure it is serviced and documented ( can't stress this enough).

A TR that needs anything major can put a huge dent in the wallet. Make sure to spend the money upfront on a nice car...instead of buying a bargain and trying to fix it up. There are a lot of nice TRs out there so take your time and buy with your brain and not your heart =-)

    Ciao'

I stopped at Fantasy Junction today in Emeryville, CA. They had a nice 1990 red/black Testarossa with under 30k miles and records for $56k. I looked it over and it appeared to be very nice - they always have top quality cars there.

It is also on their website at www.fantasyjunction.com

    Hope your search goes well.

My 30,000 miles service was over 12,000 dollars, and I kept my car up to date with all the services and much more. The car was very reliable and never left me stranded. I even drove over 500 miles to a track for 2 days of hard driving and then drove it back home, next day washed it and drove it with no problems for 6 more months until I sold it. It was my daily driver for 4 years, I bought it with less than 7,000 miles and sold it with 41,000 miles. It was very expensive to keep in top shape but damn it was worth every penny. By the way the seat belt thing is a recall so its done for free, I did the recall and never gave me problems. Good luck and enjoy.
