I have Racedeck plastic tiles in my garage. They definitely help to make the garage look finished and keeps me from getting cold because the plastic tile is 1/4" thick and keeps me off the cold concrete floor. But the bad thing is they do scuff and they get very dirty (if you get a light or neutral color.) In hindsight, I wish I had gone with epoxy. (easier to clean, keeps the surface "hard" so you can use an auto dolly easier or roll equipment across the floor easier.)

I've been looking at floor tiles too, if price is important, these guys are VERY reasonable and worth a look.(IIRC about 1/2 the cost of race deck)

Ever thought about a good expoxy kit? I put one down a few months back when I moved in. Super durable and it looks great.

Have porcelain tiles put in. Easy to clean, water and dirt won't collect under the plastic tiles,
and it just makes the garage look more expensive. And best of all, cheap compared to
the plastic ones, sometimes as low as .89 cents per tile.

well, I've been sending out e-mails to all kinds of websites for quotes on tiles and so far I've got one that I might go with, the website is www.ecotileusa.com this is what I was priced on I need 648sq ft of tile mixed blk/red ($2818) with 27ft of edge ($119)for the front of the doors and they can eche a ferrari logo(4 tiles high x 3 tiles wide)($1255),the horse will be black with red background all of this for $4192 + shipping $600 so I'm on the fence and I have about 3-4 weeks and I should be done with all the painting and trim and lights then the floor, what rtking say about not able to roll things across the floor or useing a floor jack is something to concider,I'll keep looking though

Hi Highly recomend Porcelain. I tried the epoxy with poor results. I got the idea from a car dealership. They are numbered by hardness. Get #5. I have it in one garage where I wanted more of a showroom look like marble or granit. It is smooth and If wet it is "very slippery". In the garage for daily use I went with a textured
finish that is perfect. No slip, easy to clean and has a neat quality look. Building supply stores have many samples with colors and finishes. I used the 17x17 on diagional. The cost is $2-3 per tile and about the same to install. Put it down once and I think it will be there when the grandkids children move into the house. I have attached a picture of each tile. If you can live with the cost you will be very pleased. Good luck.

Sure......I'll take some more pics and post later today. Get a rubber dead blow mallet it works good for laying the tiles down but the key is to set them carefully in the grooves first then firmly tap with the dead blow and it will snap in nicely. I have lots of practice :)

Darren, which tile is that? is that the coin, and did you go with the 12x12 plastic or is that the 18x18 pvc,the samples that I have right now are 12x12 plastic, red, black, and white and as a small sample they do look plastic and maybe a little hard to roll something on them like the toolbox,I'm waiting on the comercial grade pvc to see If thats more what I want, its a little more it'll cost me $600 more to do the garage but if the end result is what I'm looking for then it'll be worth it,but I got to say your garage looks great, and I have a 3 car garage,I'll post pics of b4 and after soon

Here is the exact tile I went with from Floor Junkies Made from High-Impact Copolymer Polypropylene 12" by 12" by 3/8" thick 3-Diamond Pattern . http://www.floorjunkies.com/diamond-modular-garage-floor-tile-p-34.html

As far as rolling anything across the floor, I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever.

I will warn you that the white tile gets dirty fast, I bought a Park lift and now I dont worry as much about the tire marks on the checkered Ferrari bay because I park on my lift. Be prepared to clean the whilte ones often if you like a clean garage. The Red and Black I have no problem, I still clean them because I am a clean freak but most of the time I just sweep them off and once in a while I break out the floor cleaner and add a little orange glo degreaser to the mix.

Good luck with the project Mike! So far everyone that see's my garage in person really likes the floor and I will say I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Porcelain tiles are incredibly strong; if you have ever toured the plant in Maranello you'll note that porcelain tiles are used liberally throughout. BWM, Lamborghini and Maserati also use them throughout their manufacturing plants and service bays. All major automobile manufacturers use porcelain (not ceramic) tiles in their showrooms.

The weight of a vehicle will absolutely not affect porcelain tiles. Once mortared to concrete they become incredibly resiliant, which is why you'll see porcelain tiles over a hundred years old still in use througout Europe as exterior clading on buildings, bars/restaurants/cafe's, etc. Short of dropping an engine block on them they are virtually indestructible, so you don't have to sweat if you accidentaly drop a wrench on them. Mine have held up great against the wear and tear from pallet jacks which are often moving heavy freight (800lb pallets).

Woody, your showroom garage looks amazing! Very nice!
