hi guys im new to this site and am looking to get my first ferrari but prices seem to be all over the place. i would love to get a challenge stradale but right now they are out of my price range. ive been looking at this 360 but not sure if the price is right since there seems to be no consistancy in pricing. any advice or suggestions are very appreciated.

ps i live in victoria canada and there is not much for used ferraris here. also pricing in general seems to be much better in the states.

Don't base your purchase decision on price.

    1) Get a PPI on ANY vehicle you are considering, and make sure it is by a person experienced with Ferraris and who comes recommended (and there are some Ferrari dealerships out there that are scary bad - I know, I dealt with one who almost botched a deal on a perfectly good car due to their incompetence!).

    2) Be a little leary of a dealership that doesn't normally deal in exotics. I read the ad for that car and got "used car salesman" vibes... never a good thing.

    3) Try and get a service history since this is the "owner's car". Did he get it serviced by someone who knew what they were doing or did he give it to one of his own mechanics to play with? These are not normal cars and while he may have a great mechanic on staff, they likely don't know squat about a Ferrari.

A final piece of advice from someone who looked for nearly 3yrs before dropping the hammer: Don't fall in love with a specific car. If your head is telling you to walk, WALK! There are others out there. When you find "the one", you'll know it.

    Good luck!

This is a good point. I've seen a used Ferrari at a Nissan dealership before and scratched my head as to how and why that car got there. A lot of the times its the owner of the dealership selling his personal ride, in which case, no big deal, but if not, I'd be concerned that the reason the car is there rather than a place that deals in exotics is becuase the prior owner was trying to hide something about the car when trading in.

Given its year, color, and options, I think it's overpriced. I went through the entire US inventory of 360s not too long ago, and ended up buying 2004 Rosso 360 spider for $100k which had lot more options than this one although had little more miles.

price is negotiable, which should come last.

first, sort out if it's what you wan, then find the best example out there because you don't want a fixer upper.

At a certain point, having such low mileage is a detriment. 4300 miles on a car over 8 years old? That means that the car was only driven 500 miles per year. Given that the previous owner must have taken it out for a decent drive once in a while (30 miles plus), that would mean that the car probably sat in a garage for weeks (if not months) at a time without running the motor. I don't believe that is good for a car with regards to fluids, seals, condensation, flat spots on tires, suspension, etc. When I bought my 360 (2002) I specifically looked for a car that had been driven at least 2500 miles a year. I think that because so much emphasis is placed on low mileage, you end up paying a premium for a car like this when mileage this low is not a good thing, IMO.

thanks for the input guys i apriciate it. i really like low miles but i can see where it might be a bad thing...i have an s2000 right now that ive driven about 15,000 km in 3 years so it sits in the garage for some times months but i run it every week or two. ive been saving for a 360 for a long time and id really like to get a stradale but i just can afford it and i dont really want to wait any longer(im going crazy, there is nothing ive ever wanted more in my whole life) so i might settle with a regular 360. then again i might wait cuz ultimately its not hat i really want.

I am a ex-S2000 and Supercharged NSX owner. You are going to love the 360, it is nimble like S2000 but with nearly twice the power while being just a 200lbs heavier.

Don't worry about miles, you got to drive the car. I put on 10k miles on my NSX in 7 years of ownership, that was my biggest regret. I have put on more than 5k miles on my 360 in a year, 17k miles so far, I drive it everywhere, everyday, just be selective with parking spot. There are 360s with 100k miles out there.

If you are not going for Challenge Stradale, I would recommend finding a 6spd car.

why do you say go for the 6 speed if its not a stradale? and ya the balance and feel of the stradale is like nothing ive experianced before. i had the pleasure of driving one in maranello in sept while i was on a trip to see f1 in monza which was unreal btw.

It is just my opinion from my experience, 6spd is much more reliable with better clutch life, easier to launch quicker off the line, easier to drive on the street. The F1 is however awesome at the track. It really depends on what you want, just drive both and see for yourself.
