Hi everyone I need some ideas. Thinking of gutting my headers on my 2006 f430. Does anyone know of a person that has done this before? I know how to do the work I need to know if it throws a cel. I'm getting mixed reviews and need some help from people that have done this before . That precat is there for a reason so I'm scared changing the flow of air will throw a cel. Then I have the option off going after market but hate spending the money to have to deal with a cel anyway . Aftermarket is the same idea of gutting a precat. My headers are still good but I want to prevent any crazy stuff from happening. Rather be safe then sorry. Most of all I need to know if it will throw a cel and what you think is the best option. Thank you

I fitted challenge headers. They are basically the same as stock but have no precat. Got CEL for cat inefficiency straight away. Fixed with O2 extenders. No CEL for 1 year now. My car is euro spec but definitely had precats.
As an aside, they are a little louder but considering all the tubes are the same size as stock, I believe they are not as loud as some/all other aftermarket headers. A lot of folk are shocked at the substantial volume increase from the non OEM headers that are bigger.

I have the Capristo manifolds and it would put up a code now and again, i was advised to allow the exhaust to warm up on tick over for a bit longer and now it is a very rare event to get a code. Unburnt fuel getting on the sensor will trigger the code , but you dont get it when hot

With the amount of re&re involved (catalyst removal) and the fact that the OE manis will inevitably crack due to inherited stress, I would sooner purchase headers and be done with it. There are inexpensive headers in the market that some fine folks on this forum have installed with excellent results. Here's a linky>> Ferrari F430 Coupe Spider 05-09 Top Speed Pro 1 Stainless Steel Exhaust Headers
Remember to get a tune regardless what catless route you choose. This is due to the A/F attributes changing from stock to free flowing headers.

They are 45deg and about 2" long. They have a small hole to greatly reduce the gas getting to the sensors. Yes they fixed the CEL. Extenders with the mini cats in them would have been my next try. An ECU tune can also stop any cat codes from showing.

Very common now to gut the OEM's precat, I personally didn't, just welded the crack on the 4 into 2 joint, all good after 1 year, can check now with ease as no shield.
I may decide to pick up a used set from eBay for approximately £300 and chop out the precat, cost approx £150 by a chap that now has a small jig as he has done a few now.
