Hello everyone. I am looking to purchase a 07-08 599 gtb. I have owned porsche 911s and never a ferrari and want a change. I drive 6k/yr on the porsches. I would like to know the annual maintenance and cost for a 599. Also is clutch wear an issue with this car? I will be purchasing a car possibly from an AD or an independent dealer and will do a ppi. What should I look for in a ppi and what is the fee an AD will charge? What is a normal clutch wear on a <10k mile car?
I found a 2008 yellow/black car with 6.5k miles asking 209k at Marino Performance Motors in Florida. Has anyone had any experience with this dealership? Is the color a hard selling point when I want to resell in the future? Lastly, what is this car worth? Thanks in advance.

That is exactly what I would like in a 599, except I prefer a Cuoio interior, but could live with black. I love yellow Ferraris.

Goddam I looooooooooove when the sides of the diffusor are painted in Body color and the central tunnel in black or CF.

The stock black diffusor is the only thing I dislike in the GTB

I really don't understand why the 599 didn't come stock like that. It really looks 1000 x better.

I did, but did not find anything. Do you have any experience with them or know something about them? Thanks

So I am assuming that the yellow color will not detract from future resale on a 599...

If nothing on Google, I'm not sure I would say that's a good thing.

While not re-sale red, yellow is a fairly popular color with a strong customer base.

That yellow GTB is beautiful, but you had better not be shy. ;). It's going to draw a lot of attention, even by Ferrari standards.

I'm not a fan of yellow on the 599. That's just me for what it's worth...absolutely nuthin.
IMO, if you're thinking resale, I agree with resale red.

I am prejudice mine is black. I think the 599 looks better in colors other than red or yellow. I think yellow would not b a great resale color, if you love it I would get it. I just spent 6 weeks getting my title out of Straight line auto. I would want to see the title and recieve it at time of payment. I would also get a PPI on it.

Yup, all personal preference. Living in the desert, no black cars for me, I am too lazy and do not need all the extra heat in the paint. You cannot even put your hand on a black car here in the summer, but you could fry eggs on it.

I would be hunting for yellow and there are lots like me, so get whatever color appeals to you. Maybe not green, though. Having had a yellow Daytona, it still is my favorite.

    Hi,
Concerning the 599, I suggest you to have a look notably on this post here : http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=350211
Clutch wear depends on driver, but it can be higher than 60k mile. Check the car with a technician.
    Regards,

What? No, not red or black..grey!

It's all matter of personal preference. That yellow is certainly distinctive and it will either sell really fast or you'll sit there for a while if you're worried about resale.

I own both a 911/C4S and a 599. the 599 is a vastly superior car (as long as you are not in winter climes). The gear box is better and it rides much better. I have not see any appreciable difference in maintenance costs but i have also not had any problems with either one.

Yeah it will. The difference is not that great in warranty. Out of warranty it is 3 or 4 times as much.

+1 Once out of warranty, it's the parts that cost 3x or 4x if/when things break. Labor isn't that much different.

I have gotten a printout of the SD3 Net Workshop Data performed by an authorized dealer. There are alot of parameters and numbers listed as well as clutch wear. Would anyone be able to translate this for me as far as mechanical condition of the car is concerned?

Pretty much the only useful information on that page is that the clutch is about 20 % worn

Near the bottom is the most important number. You have 21.26 % clutch wear, so you have 78.74% of the clutch life remaining. Pretty good IMO. The biggest thing on the F1 transmissions is learning how to start out. If you take off slowly, and wait till you feel that 1st has totally engaged, it will drastically prolong your clutch life. Also, reversing up a hill is also hard on the clutch.

Have any other PPI info? CC brake wear would also be something to check, pad life, remaining tread on tires and manufacture date of the tires. Anything over 5 years on tires would need to be replaced, and factored into your offer. Don't let them tell you that tires over 5 years old with plenty of tread left are ok, they are not.

Thanks for the quick response guys!! Really appreciate it. I will be getting a full PPI once we have agreed on a final selling price and trade on my Porsche.
Once I get a 599 I will need advise on how to prolong the clutch life ie starting out in 1st gear, down shifting, etc. The dealer did tell me that if you put the car in full AUTO mode, it will dramatically REDUCE clutch life. I thought that if you let the computer shift for you, it will INCREASE the clutch life....

There have been many discussions on "Auto" mode. The concensus is it will NOT increase clutch wear. You will learn after a while to just give light throttle when starting out in 1st, maybe a car length or 2 max. By then the clutch will be fully engaged and you are good to go. With the 599 you have big time torque, so it will be benefitial to your tires also by taking it easy until 2nd gear.
