You are right..but buying through rep. board sponsor dealers is another thing..that why they are here supporting the site! Like I said in my last post We dealer sponsor here can not hide, we are in the open, in the public selling the best cars on the market, I can not afford not too...infact I am activly seeking all Ferrair's as I am a cash buyer on the spot for the right cars...

Thats what I ment by piece of mind,

If you shoot hoops all day you know how to make baskets, if you buy Ferrari's all day you know how to buy Ferrari's, same when come's to selling it's all we do...

If I buy from a private seller who is holding title I hope to work something out on tax liability. Also I think I will get a slightly better buy purchasing direct from an owner without incuring a brokers, locating/purchase/and profit.( no offense )

None taken and you are right about the tax, though there ways for dealers to work that as well...As for purchase price not so much..The fact is the guys with cars are holding somewhat tight! I am a dealer not a broker, so if I here of anyone wanting to move there I will pass the information on to you so that you may get in touch..as a dealer I do not broker cars, unless it is a trade on somthing i do not carry, at which it sells to a another dealer!

I looked at a 2005 f430 today at a dealer, It was a nice car... a few minor imperfections, like curb rash under front of nose on each side, and one wheel that had a ton of rock chips/corrosion. Didnt mach the rest of rims, (they were all perfect,) tires were pretty chopped up on the edges. looked like the tires on a car after some laps on a track day:) so I would purchase the right car from a dealer, but even if you get fair deal, the taxes are a killer. Car was offered to me for @ 225k + tax. not bad price for under 2000 mile car. I would have considered but the interior wasnt quite right colors, and the imperfections were small but noticeable to me for $240,000 otd. It just wasnt THE CAR. The search will continue... if you can help in any way I would appreciate.

No disrespect to you or Premier as I'm confident that you try and only represent the best. However, quantity has absolutely nothing to do with quality and locating and purchasing the 'right' Ferrari is unlike most any other car.

I have not used Chris at Premier yet, but will be soon. He comes HIGHLY suggested by a few close freinds. Will be using him for the next car that will replace my F430 that sold.

    Silvertt,
As most of us know, the tax angle is that you are going to ask the seller to lower the price in a "second" contract in order to pay less in sales tax. In most states, that is a crime by both buyer and seller. I know this is done all the time but I would never do this as a seller or buyer. Life is too short to play games like this. Just pay the piper and move one.

There seems to be some confusion for some people in that they think if you sell or buy private party....you are not on the hook for sales tax. In reality...in most states...you are.

Many choose simply not to report it or under report it. And not too many people care if you buy a $25K car and say it was only bought for $14K.

That $7K difference at 8.25% tax is only $578.

Now...if you're talking 10 times that amount....I wouldn't feel so comfortable into thinking you can get away with that.

Ever heard of "even trade"? If you can take title that way there is no tax liability, just price of registering tag and transfer of title. But your right, if you can afford a ferrari you should be able to afford the tax. The way I see it is taxes were already paid once when the car was purchased new. Why pay it if there is a legal way of eliminating the tax liablity, working out an even trade there would be no taxes do on sale. You are better off to "even trade" than to lie and put a lower price than you paid for the car on title, that will get you in more trouble that way... Even trade happens all the time, best way.

yes then you will have to trade in a car to the private owner of the 430 as an even trade correct? there has to be something that is being traded no? you mean you pay X amount for the 430 to the private party, then take the title and go to DMV to register the car under an even trade? don't you need some kind of documentation to prove the even trade?

You pay the tax on the diffrence, so on a trade that is evan there would be no tax...but in any trade up usallyu there is diffrence, the tax is greatly reduced!!!

May work in FL, but dosen't work that way where I live. If you buy a car you pay the tax on that car then the trade works like cash downpayment. There is no 'difference tax'. Sorta sucks, but shuts down this tax loophole.

What sorta car do you intend to trade? I would have to imagine that if you were trading a 1995 Ford Explorer for a 2005 F430 as an 'even trade' there's gonna be some raised eyebrows at the DMV.
